What a fantastic year we have had as one of the Mayor’s chosen charities.
This morning, staff and volunteers from both of Mayor Dr Alice Mpofu-Coles’ chosen charities gathered in the Mayor’s Parlour as a thank you for all the dedicated hard work they do throughout our community.
The Mayor spoke warmly about the people she has met through our charity over the last year — the often forgotten people in our town whose lives have been touched through kindness, support, and compassion.
As her term comes to an end, we would like to thank her for all of her support this year. It has been an honour to be one of the charities she selected.
It was a lovely morning of reflection and humour, with some laughs 🤣 too!

Today marked the final session of our Readicook pilot sessions.
A massive congratulations to everyone who took part and received their certificate for completion and attendance. We are so proud of all you have achieved throughout the programme — from learning new cooking skills to building confidence in the kitchen and sharing time together as a community.
A special congratulations to Duncan on receiving his certificate as part of the course!

To mark this milestone, we’re running a big fundraising raffle — and we’d love your support.

A massive thank you to each and every one of you who has made a monetary donation over the last few days to help us replenish stock. Today we took delivery of tins of fruit and vegetables from the wholesaler, and this purchase was made possible by you. Your generosity will help keep us able to provide food parcels this week, and we are so grateful for your support — thank you so much!

🚨 URGENT APPEAL 🚨
We are desperately in need of tins of vegetables and tins of fruit.
On an average week, we use around 250 tins of vegetables and 150 tins of fruit in our food parcels, and we have now completely run out!!!

We are currently looking at wholesalers to try and purchase a pallet of tinned fruit and a pallet of tinned vegetables so that we can continue providing food parcels over the coming week.

💜 Introducing ReadiCook 💜

We are so excited to launch ReadiCook — a brand new collaboration between Faith Christian Group and Torch Help Hub!

ReadiCook is all about bringing life, health, and hope to individuals and families within our Pantry network through practical food coaching sessions that combine:

✔️ Cookery skills
✔️ Nutrition understanding
✔️ Budget-friendly meal planning
✔️ Confidence in the kitchen

Through hands-on learning, we want to help people prepare affordable, healthy meals from scratch, reduce food costs, and make informed choices that support long-term wellbeing.

💜 At the heart of ReadiCook is our desire to see people flourish — practically, physically, and spiritually.

Our first six-week pilot course, Healthy Snacks and Packed Lunches, launched last month at Southcote Family Church.

More information will be shared soon.

To mark this milestone, we’re launching our " 30 for 30 Challenge" — and we’d love YOU to get involved.

Take on a challenge inspired by the number 30 and help us raise vital funds to continue our work supporting local people in crisis. It could be big or small, solo or as a team, fun or challenging — the goal is simple: make a difference together 💛
