£14,000 to provide safe, long-term accommodation for women in recovery in Gloucester...

Across Gloucester, there is a shortage of women-only accommodation for those in who need stable and supportive longer‑term housing. Without this, vulnerable women often find themselves accepting rooms in mixed gender settings or living alongside people who are still using substances. This can lead to relapse, exploitation and further trauma.

Hope and Vision Communities, with support from a Benefact Trust Community Impact grant, is opening a new women’s house that will provide long-term accommodation alongside wraparound support equipping women to thrive as active members of a supportive community.

Speaking about the project, Benefact Trust’s Senior Grants and Programmes Officer, Paul Playford, said ‘“With our headquarters based here in Gloucester, it’s a privilege to support a project that’s helping women in our local area. This project will provide women in recovery with the safe, stable home they urgently need to rebuild their lives”.

Today, we celebrate International Women’s Day by recognising the mutual strength that grows when we support one another. This year’s theme, Give to Gain, reminds us that when we lift others, we all rise — as individuals, as communities, and as a society

At Hope and Vision Communities, we see this truth every day. Our emerging Women’s Community in Gloucester is being built on this very principle: that recovery becomes stronger, safer, and more sustainable when it is rooted in shared support. This new community will offer women leaving rehabilitation or facing homelessness a safe, stable place to grow — surrounded by people who believe in their future

To mark today, Hannah Shead will be speaking at Kingfisher Church in Tredworth at 10am, sharing the story of how this first women’s community is coming to life
