🤩Durgas ARE the WoW 🤩
16 sevikas from Reading's Durga Shakha represented HSSUK, in one of Reading's annual👭 'only women' 👭event called WoW - Women of Wonder organised by Telgu Association 🙏🏼

We celebrated 🎉womanhood 🎉by singing our sangh geet...
🎵Shuravayam Dheeravayam🎶🎶 depicting all the qualities 😇 a woman possesses 💪🏼and that she should be proud of 🫡

To compliment 👏🏻this geet, the sevikas did the niyudh 👊🏼🤛🏼and dand pradarshan 🥢 which was admired by the audience🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

After giving information about shakha and its purpose, we ended the performance by a naara
Shakti ka naam naari hai
The naara was so appreciated and valued, that the naara was used by the organisers in their closing words!!

Adi Shankaracharya was a great Indian philosopher who taught the powerful idea of Advaita—that the soul and the universe are one. His wisdom continues to inspire millions to seek truth and self-realization.

On Shankaracharya Jayanti, we remember his teachings and celebrate the timeless path of knowledge, unity, and spiritual awakening. ✨

A Prachar karyashala was conducted at Reading by Jitesh ji Sevani, who gave us an insight into utilising social media to help spread awareness of Sangh karya.
Sevikas and Swayamsevaks from Reading and Basingstoke shakhas participated and learnt new skills that they can take back to their shakhas!

A fantastic day of sewa, teamwork, and community spirit

Reading Nagar proudly supported the Reading Half Marathon by providing two dedicated teams of over 25 volunteers, including some enthusiastic young sevaks and sevikas.

Our volunteers played a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the event, assisting with marshalling duties such as safety and crowd control, supporting athletes, and guiding participants along the route, including road closure points as well as helping at water stations. Reading HSS contributed one of the largest volunteer groups for this well-loved annual event.

In addition to their responsibilities, our volunteers brought incredible energy and spirit by cheerleading and playing the dhol, creating a vibrant, carnival-like atmosphere that uplifted both runners and spectators alike.

🪔 Celebrating Raksha Bandhan with our new MP! 🪔

Yesterday, Reading Nagar representatives had the honour of meeting MP Yuan Yang of Earley, Woodley and Whitley to celebrate Raksha Bandhan at her offices.
This was our first meeting with our new MP, and what a perfect opportunity to introduce HSS and share the good work we do in our local community!

Swayamsevaks and Sevikas had the chance to interact with her and her team, sharing their experiences of HSS and also the local work we do.

The celebration included the traditional tying of rakhi and presentation of sweets to the MP and her staff - truly capturing the spirit of Raksha Bhandan

A positive meeting with the following initatives agreed as part of the meeting:

✨ MP Yang will visit Reading Shakha during Parliament Week
✨ Trip to Houses of Parliament for our community members
✨ Meeting of all Hindu organisations in the Reading area
✨ Public speaking workshops for our youth and women
✨ Economics sessions for young people to explore how economics can be a force for good

We're grateful for MP Yuan Yang's time to engage with our community and support our work. We hope this is the first of many initiatives to strengthen ties between our local Hindu community and her office
