Craig’s Moss - a second chance for nature

Our nearby Craig’s Moss is one part of an extensive peatland complex spanning the Long Mountain valley ridge. While some parts are focused on extraction, a 72 hectare area is being explored as a restoration site.

Full surveying and planning was completed this year by the RSPB, revealing the first record of Large Heath and Green Hairstreak butterfly, highlighting potential biodiversity gains for this area. There are frequent sightings of Raven, Skylark, Cuckoo and occasionally Hen Harrier.
