U10 Spartans Vs U10 Trojans

*After the previous match Trojans snuck away with the result after a good performance by Spartans so it was time for the rematch!*

On Saturday U10 Trojans started on the front foot with Ollie A finding the net from a quick dribble in and a beautiful strike over the keeper.

Spartans quickly fought back and found some opportunities coming their way when a dribble in found Rory in the right place at the right time and volleyed the ball into the Trojans net!

Second half Spartans came out fighting quicker and eventually got ahead through a lovely finish by Freddie.

Trojans immediately pulled the equaliser back a few minutes later through a lovely run by Oliver who found Noah A in the right place.

Both teams gave a fantastic performance and continued showing us coaches and parents that all the hard work and frustrations are now coming into place!

Player of the match Trojans - Kian - keeping the score line down and making some good saves 🧤

Player of the match Spartans - Rory - battled hard throughout and was picked by the Trojans players for his fantastic goal

Sports person of the week Spartans - Luc - working hard in training to improve and help the team when he needs to

U10 Trojans Festival @ Baypoint

Due to our fantastic results since the new year we were placed in a festival with most of the teams in the division above.

First game - Dover Rangers Yellow - Won 1-0
Always a fantastic game against these and today we managed to get revenge for a loss to them in the league a few weeks ago with Ollie A finding the net.

Second game - Baypoint - Won 1-0
Baypoint are a very well structured team who we knew was going to be a difficult game but with fantastic pressing from Wade who put pressure on the defence and GK to put the ball away.

Third game - Canterbury Youth - lost 2-0
After 2 fantastic games we sat back a bit too much and allowed Canterbury to use this to their advantage and found 2 goals that we could not fight back.

Semi-Final - Herne Bay Harriers - won on penalties
The pressure was now on being a knockout game but both teams held on to a 0-0 draw meaning penalties.
Ollie A and Wade stepped up and scored the first 2 of our penalties. Kian made himself big in goal and managed to save the second penalty of the opponents which lead to Noah A stepping up to score the winning penalty.

Final - Canterbury Youth - Lost 1-0
We had a replay of the group game but with a much tighter game throughout but Canterbury played some fantastic football finding a way through.

This is the first time in 4 years that we have reached the cup final all other years we have normally been in the shield finals and I am so proud of every player today who deserved to leave with a medal for their attitudes and fantastic football being runners-up! 👏

U10 Trojans Vs Tankerton Colts

After 2 weeks of no matches due to half term the players turned up in good spirit and enthusiasm!

The game started well with both teams battling hard and unable to make a breakthrough until half way through Tankerton found a lovely strike past Kian.

Trojans woke up a bit more and started putting some lovely passes together creating more opportunities but could not find the goal. Oliver then used his quick feet and determination to take on a couple of players and struck the ball perfectly with the keeper unable to stop it going through his legs.

With a couple of minutes to go Ollie A found a lovely through ball to Noah A who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper.

Second half again Trojans created chances but could not find the goal anymore which led to Tankerton finding a way through and getting another.

A fantastic game of football from both teams!

Player of the match - Noah A - worked very hard today battling back to win the ball and calmly getting his goal.

Player of the week - Ollie A - trained hard this week and although did not get a goal created some opportunities for others

U10 Spartans Vs Sturry Kings

An early morning trip across to Sturry saw the Spartans back in action.
After a laboured warm up, the Spartans shot out of the blocks and were ahead after just 15 seconds. Laylan with a low driven shot towards the box, missed by a defender before it nestled nicely into the corner. A new pat of boots being put to good use early on.
However, Ramsgate didn’t have it all their own way, Sturry struck back after a long ball wasn’t cleared and a powerful shot went past Arthur without him having a chance to react.
Both teams then seemed to be off the pace with lots of misplaced passes and battling without any real quality until just before half time when Isaiah picked up the ball after some neat passing and lashed home a great strike. Half time.
Even though we were ahead, we still had plenty of gears to find and produce more effort in our running and passing into the space we can create.
The second half started and an equaliser came. A very unfortunate and tame shot bobbled up and out of the reach of the prepared Arthur. We had been working on this in training, he got down well, covered the chance of going through his legs but it was a wicked bobble that went very high. Despite a strong parry, the ball span over the line.
The rally call to get the passing going and to up the tempo saw some endless running from Freddie, creating chances after breaking their defence numerous times. The Spartans were pushing and managed to get in front after some great closing down and pressure leading to Isaiah striking home his second of the game.
More good pressing, this time from Rory firstly on a defender to pressurise them into a mistake, he then pushed forwards with the ball and challenged the keeper fairly. The ball spilled and great following up from Harry saw another goal.
Rory’s reward for great closing down throughout the second half nearly came to fruition for himself as he chased down Isaiah’s shot tha was spilled by the keeper and he slid in to tap the ball home, unfortunately ruled out by the referee.
More late chances followed by Laylan, Louis and Rory but no more scoring.
First half, not great but very good improvement in the second half. Great determination shown

Supporters player of the week: Isaiah (two great goals and some great support play to others)

Player of the match: Freddie. (Tireless running and creating chances)

U10 Spartans Vs Hawkinge Town

A lovely springs day, with a blustery wind made for a good day of football.
The Spartans started well on the front foot playing on the offensive and closing the ball down well, of which a penalty decision should have gone in our favour after great work from Laylan. Battling away, we started to make some chances with strong tackles, good running and passing, the chances soon came behind.
Firstly the crossbar was hit by the Spartans, closely followed by the post. . . . Not to worry though as 3rd time lucky Freddie burst through the defence and finished calmly.
Straight after, the Spartans nearly had another but an outrageous save from the goalkeeper kept the score the same. Half time, a great first half from the Spartans.
The second half started and the Spartans came forwards straight away, creating more chances. The away goalkeeper then made two more brilliant saves before Hawkinge finally woke up and mustered an attack on our goal. Stout defending had seen them kept at bay, but a bobble and Keenness shown by their player before a good finish beat the Spartans keeper and levelled the game.
After this the match was very even and although the Spartans created chances and their keeper made some more unbelievable saves, a hopeful half way punt went forwards from Hawkinge and an unfortunate lapse of concentration (maybe as he hadn’t any thing to do all game) saw the ball squirm under the Spartans keeper with not very much time left to find a leveller.
Well done to all of the players today, great effort, good passing and movement, good tenacity and wing play. Once again just those finishing touches to be a little sharper.

Parents/sports person of the week: Isaiah and Jeremiah (sharing) Great defensive display from Jeremiah, calm and composed whilst being measured. Isaiah with lots of energy and wing play, tricky for their defenders to deal with.

Player of the week: Freddie. Strong display for Freddie after being pipped to the award last week. Neatly taken goal and lots of good interchanging play with the team.

Special shout out to Arthur, bailed the team out and made many a great save already this season. Forget this one and try again next time as we win together as a team and we lose together as a team. Keep your head up!
