Had a great conversation about our BHS Changing Lives Through Horses programme for young people - alternative education for 5 to 25 years. Great to share some amazing real stories of young people lives transformed by the programme which is based around horses and focus on developing key life skills such as building relationships, confidence, communication, responsibility, perseverance and teamwork .

Also about the challenges facing many local voluntary organisations to find volunteers and funding. Grateful for Roach Valley Radio allowing the opportunity to talk about the Riding Centre's activities and charitable purpose.

It's back Saturday 27 June 2026 ! 👏 😃 😮 Peel Tower Sponsored Abseil raising funds for Margaret Haes Riding Centre.

The views from the top are simply stunning, and you’ll be in safe hands with friends at Outdoor Activities Service and Alternate Adventure supporting the event.

The Riding Centre is celebrating 60 years in 2026, and whilst there have been times we thought reaching this milestone would not be possible, here we are and the Centre is expanding!

We need funds to support the horses’ welfare and our core costs, and for essential site improvements to maintain the Centre as a safe and welcoming space for all our riders, volunteers, staff and families.

Challenge yourself to abseil down the iconic Peel Tower on Holcombe Hill, Bury, and raise funds for the Riding Centre in its 60th year. Please note minimum age for abseil advised as 16 years although email if you wish to register someone younger.

At Margaret Haes Riding Centre, we bring the ‘Spirit of the Horse’ to some of the most vulnerable people, through our programmes of riding, equine care and social connection.

Horses touch the lives of people, helping them to heal and to embrace the new and the possible. As a charity, our purpose is to empower children and adults with learning disabilities, physical and mental health disabilities, and emotional and social challenges to lead active, healthy and fulfilling lives through equestrian activities. We aim to have a positive impact on the health and well-being for all our riders and volunteers.

Rainbow Run today at Broadway Primary School in Haslingden. Lots of fabulous stalls. We held a MHRC Tombola stall and joined in the Rainbow fun run . We are very grateful to be one of their chosen charities they are supporting this year. We had so much fun joining in the rainbow run and all the celebrations. 🌈 🏃‍♀️
