Today, we had a fantastic team service, celebrating Holy Communion and saying goodbye to our friend, organist and amazing volunteer - Ryan.

Ryan is on the move to a new chapter in his life. He has been part of our community for many years and organist for the majority of those. And most recently serving as one of our Church Wardens. We owe Ryan a great deal of gratitude for his work and patience. He will be missed.

Can you help?

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help at The Ramsbottom Jigsaw Festival 2-5 September 2026 here at St Paul's Church.

Unfortunately but understandably, sometimes someone's availability can change at short notice so we suddenly have a few gaps in our staffing for the four days. In particular, we need:

Wednesday
Raffle - 12noon to 2pm (1 person needed)
Sales Desk 12noon to 2pm (2 people needed)
Sales Desk 2pm to 4pm (1)
Sales Desk 4pm to 5pm (1)

Thursday
Door Steward 6.30pm to 8.30pm (1)
Sales Desk 6.30pm to 8.30pm (1)

Friday
Door Steward 4pm to 5pm (1)
Raffle 12noon to 2pm (1)

Saturday
Raffle 10am to 12noon (1)
Door Steward 2pm to 4pm (1)

If anyone can spare us a couple of hours to cover any of these jobs, we’d be so grateful and, honestly, it can be quite fun to be a part of something like this. Please just message us or email [email protected]

If, before you decide, you'd like a bit more information about what any particular job entails, please feel free to ask with no obligation.

Thank you.

After months of preparation, next week sees the interior of St Paul's transformed to host The Ramsbottom Jigsaw Festival (2-5 September 2026). Work starts after the team service tomorrow morning and we welcome anyone who'd like to help.

Thank you to everybody from St Paul's who helped sorting bags of boxes and cardboard yesterday in preparation for the event and to everyone from tomorrow onwards involved in the setting up, the festival itself and the clearing away afterwards.

Apologies for the disruption to the regular church week but hopefully it's for a joyful week ahead in which we open the doors to welcome the wider community from the town and much further afield.

As you can see today, stones began to come down from the spire. They will be moved away for any restoration works before being put right back. If any aren't able to be restored they will be replaced like for like, though we don't believe there will be many.

What do you think so far of our ?

Thank you to St Paul's Church bell ringers for the hard work of fetching down all our puzzle boxes and cardboard from above the Parish Room ready for The Ramsbottom Jigsaw Festival 2026.

Spire update: netting has gone up, weather vane is down (and off for a good clean), stone is starting to come down.

Over the coming days and weeks more will come down, before it starts to get built back up.
