Welcome to the Brandlesholme Warriors JFC
We are a junior football club formed in 1978, with FA Charter Standard accreditation. The "Home" of Brandlesholme Warriors are playing fields off Ripon Hall Avenue, Ramsbottom that has football pitches for the U6-U12 year olds. These pitches are managed by the hard work and dedication of parents, managers, coaches and friends of the club. Our U13-U16 year
olds play at other locations due to the lack of available pitches in the Ramsbottom area. Our club has a number of football teams ranging from U7-U16 years which includes boys and girls. Teams play in the Bolton Bury & District Football League, and the North Bury Junior League. All BWJFC coaches are qualified to FA standard in Level One and Two coaching so to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for the children to play football in. All coaches are CRB checked with qualifications in Emergency First Aid & Child Protection. Winter training, floodlit & indoor, is provided by the club at Woodhey High School, Ramsbottom, Derby High School & St Gabriel's High School, Bury. We also offer all our Goalkeepers specialised training by a qualified FA Goalkeeping coach. We have school club links with all schools in the Ramsbottom area, holding free of charge coaching sessions, introducing young children
to football
History
=======
The club was formed in 1978 after a member of the Brandlesholme Residents Committee, Michael Varley, put an advert in the residents monthly magazine inviting any children interested in playing football for an under 11's team to turn up at a specific date and time. Over 70 children turned up, some to young who were encouraged to come back the following year so to attempt to make further teams for the club. The under 11 team was managed by a local gentleman called Tony Park and he managed them to success in their first season by winning the Hamilton Cup. After a couple of seasons, Frank Carse took over management of the team which played in the Bolton League on a Sunday. Frank was assisted by Ian Charlton who took over part of the team which then played in the North Bury League of which the club still plays in. Other key figures in founding the club were Renwick Richardson who became the club treasurer and who was responsible for many sponsorship deals which helped the club to grow and acquired the land at Ripon Hall Avenue through Peel Holdings for the club to have its own venue.
