We completed a total of 62 miles - with everyone managing at least 2 miles, but some completing 3 or 4!

🏆 Target Sprint Champions 🏆

This weekend cadets from Quedgeley have taken part in their first Target Sprint competition, against cadets from the ACF and CCF.

Target Sprint comprises of three 400m runs and 2 shoots - 15 pellets to knockdown 5 targets each time. The cadets had only practiced this format once - so it was a steep learning curve on the day.

However, they definitely rose to the challenge! Sgt Hart came 3rd in Saturday’s individual competition - with Cpl Sachs and Sgt Alishetty also finishing in the top 5, in their age groups. This meant they qualified for the finals on Sunday - where Cpl Sachs came 3rd.

Sunday also saw the team competition and the Quedgeley team absolutely stormed it! They were the top RAFAC team and top Community Cadet team - finishing 2 minutes faster than the top CCF team 🏆

A big thank you to the Royal Air Force Small Arms Association, for the loan of their specialist target sprint air rifles and equipment to practice with. Also thank you to the Council for Cadet Rifle Shooting for organising a great competition - the cadets had a fantastic time and can’t wait for next year!

💥 Clay Target Team Practice 💥

Over the last 3 months, our cadets have been honing their clay target shooting skills - in preparation for the National Cadet Clay Target competition.

After completing dry training and an initial session on our new clay simulator system, cadets took part in live firing sessions at Cheltenham & District Clay Club. The great facilities give cadets the opportunity to practice on a range of different targets.

The team are now looking forward to the upcoming National competition.

🏆 Top RAFAC Team at CARM 🏆

Earlier this year 8 cadets from 2419 competed in the inaugural National Cadet Air Rifle Meeting (CARM). The event was held at Bisley over 3 days, in a venue originally setup to host the Commonwealth Games.

The cadets shot head to head against cadets from the ACF, SCC and CCF - in both individual and team events. They were able to use electronic targets, enabling them to see each shot and make corrections if needed. Targets were also displayed on large screens around the venue, making it easy for team members to follow the action.

Our cadets did brilliantly. Our A team finished as the Top RAFAC Team - narrowly squeezed into 4th place overall by 3 strong ACF teams. In the Overall Individual Community Cadet competition Sgt Alishetty finished an amazing 17th out of 83 cadets. Followed by Sgt Lardner in 21st, Cpl Deacon in 28th, Cdt Abdur-Rahman in 32nd and Cpl Smith in 34th. All 5 earning themselves a Cadet 50. Sgt Alishetty was selected to shoot for RAFAC in the inter service final, with Sgt Lardner selected as a reserve.

And it wasn’t all about the cadets! Our very own WO Norris came 2nd in the Adult competition!
