We are absolutely delighted and incredibly proud to share that our Commanding Officer, Lt (SCC) Josh McDermott RNR, has been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours and awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire). 🎖️

This prestigious honour is a true reflection of Lt McDermott’s unwavering dedication, leadership, and commitment to young people, not only at Ellesmere Port Sea Cadets, but also at Connah’s Quay previously, and to cadets across the North West. His passion for inspiring and developing cadets and volunteers, along with his tireless service to our units and the wider cadet community, makes this recognition truly deserved.

Through his leadership, countless cadets have been given opportunities to grow in confidence, develop new skills, and reach their full potential. His influence extends far beyond a single unit, and this award recognises the positive impact he has had across the entire region.

Please join us in congratulating:👏 Lt (SCC) Joshua McDermott MBE RNR 👏
We are honoured to serve under your leadership and incredibly proud to call you our Commanding Officer.

Just to remind cadets, we are parading tonight at Plas Heli, normal times and in uniform.
We have to enter through the brown door from the boat compound. A staff member will be on the security gate from 18:35. To get to the boat compound where you can park, drive past Plas Heli and turn left immediately before the lifeboat station.

See you all later.

There will be no cadets this week Wednesday 27th May. The good news is we have a temporary home with Plas Heli starting from 3rd June, when fingers crossed, we may get on the water, weather and site survey dependant.
Parents, emails will be sent out too.

The Sea Cadets, Army Cadets UK, Royal Air Force Air Cadets, and Cadets In Schools help to give young people a real advantage in education and work.

A 2021 study by the University of Northampton found that Cadets develop key communication, teamwork and leadership skills and become more confident and resilient, setting them up for future success.

And under a new ‘30 by 30’ campaign launched last year, the Government has ambitious plans to expand Cadet opportunities for a new generation of young people.
