Wielding the distinct voices of fiddle, concertina and mandolin, the Grace Smith Trio brings together three like-minded musicians to create one dynamic and expressive musical dialogue. Acclaimed fiddle and viola player Grace Smith is joined by Sam Partridge (concertina) and Tom Kimber (mandolin) in this innovative ensemble, which offers a fresh take on folk. Drawing deeply from tradition, whilst also expanding their repertoire with new melodies of their own, the Grace Smith Trio explores the boundaries of what folk can be to mesmerising effect; their music will stay with you long after you finish listening. Their debut album Overleaf was released in Autumn 2023 to great critical reception. In their review of Overleaf, Klof Mag said; “If you’re looking for the exciting future of instrumental folk music, you need search no further."

Archie Churchill-Moss’s journey through the musical landscape is one of rich collaboration and unwavering commitment to the diatonic button accordion—a craft that has earned him widespread acclaim and reverence. A pioneer in combining folk music with live electronics and a celebrated composer, Archie’s innovative approach seamlessly blends traditional idioms with contemporary composition. His music has resonated widely, receiving multiple plays on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 3. Archie's career as a session musician is a testament to his versatility and skill. He has collaborated with esteemed folk and traditional artists such as Seth Lakeman, Sam Sweeney, Cara Dillon, Jim Moray, Eliza Carthy, Sam Kelly, and Sam Carter. In recent years, Archie has focused on his solo performance. His debut solo album, PH(R)ASE (Slowworm Records, 2023), earned him the support slot for Norwich-based contemporary jazz trio, Mammal Hands.

A message from the Storyteller !
..And so we draw to a close our 19th summer season of weekly storytellings in the Roundhouse. 

I'd like to thank all of you who have joined us at the fireside, the many wonderful guest storytellers and the fabulous team of volunteers who have baked mouthwatring cakes for the interval, supplied us all with refreshments, carefully directed our parking and given of their precious time, warmth and enthusiasm to enable these special evenings to happen.

So many people have given their energy freely, and - other than meeting the fees and expenses of visiting performers - all the funds raised go directly toward the meeting of the charity's ongoing revenue costs and keeping Felin afloat. 

It's been a huge privellage to have met so many beautiful people, familiar faces and new friends. I've loved our discussions under candlelight by the door as you leave and have been so touched by the inspired voices of the bright eyed children and their enthusiasm for the spoken word.The future of these tales looks in safe hands.

From here on, other than for the occasional event, we move back to Caffi'r Felin, under the candlelit roof beams for our winter programme of stories and music.

Diolch i Sef am noson wych yn y Ty Crwn nôs Sul ddwytha! Thank you to Sef Townsend for a wonderful evening in the Roundhouse last Sunday! Lovely to have you back.

Join us for the final storytelling of the summer this coming Sunday! 7pm start, no booking required, come early to get the best seats! Entry is £10 (cash) / £5 for under 12's and free for 5 and under.

Summer Holiday Forest School Sessions!

Fridays 10am-12🌱

There will be a range of different themed activities on offer during different sessions but each session will include some:
Nature crafting, den building, group games, whittling, fire lighting, story creating, free play and nature exploring.

There will be Tea and coffee available for adults, juice or water for children.

The Forest School sessions will be run by Rhiannon Williams - a Freelance Level 3 Forest School practitioner who has been running her own Forest School sessions within the North East communities for 9 years alongside her gardening business and her own parental journey!

The sessions are suitable for all ages, although ideally 4yrs-13yrs, however other ages can be facilitated for if requested - please be in touch.

£10 per parent and child (preferably 1 parent to attend not both), £3 for any extra sibling (any sibling Babes in arms free of charge).

Dyma Steve sy'n cadw ei wenyn yma yn Felin Uchaf ac yn cyflenwi ei fêl blasus i'w werthu drwy gydol y flwyddyn yn Siop Y Felin! 🐝

Rydym wedi cael y pleser o wylio Steve o bryd i'w gilydd wrth iddo gyflawni'r broses o echdynnu mêl yn ddiweddar. Rhannodd Steve ffaith anhygoel: er mwyn cynhyrchu un jar o fêl, mae cyfanswm y pellter y mae'r gwenyn yn ei deithio wrth chwilio am neithdar yn cyfateb i amgylchu'r byd ddwywaith.

Meet our local bee keeper Steve who keeps his bee's here at Felin Uchaf and provides his delicious honey to sell all year round in the shop onsite! 🐝

We've had the pleasure of dipping in and out of observing Steve go through the honey extraction process recently. Steve shared an incredible fact that to make one jar of honey the distance of foraging trips the bees make collectively to make that one jar is the equivalent of traveling twice around the world!

Great to see so many familiar faces of those who keep coming back to learn from Katie's wisdom ~ along with being able to share knowledge amongst new faces too.

A wonderful opportunity to get to know the plants around us and to identify how to support ourselves at different times of the year🌱
