Our community market stall is open and restocked.

Our fareshare fridge is loaded and theres some brilliant ingredients ready to be served.

Now here’s an idea for how to use these ingredients to make a filling meal for all the family.

🍗🍝 CANNY CREAMY CHICKEN PASTA

A proper family tea for a canny little donation!

This recipe uses ingredients from BOTH the fridge and our pantry and should comfortably feed 4 people.

🛒 What You’ll Need

From the chilled section:

* 🍗 1 box Southern Fried Chicken Mini Fillets – £1
* 🥣 ½ tub Greek Style Natural Yoghurt – 50p worth (these massive tubs are only £1!)
* 🥛 A splash of Oat Milk £1 a carton
* 🧀 A little Camembert (optional) but at only 50p you’d be mad not to!

From the community market:

* 🍝 400g dried pasta
* 🧅 1 onion
* 🥕 2 carrots
* 🍅 1 tin chopped tomatoes
* 🥬 A handful of fresh greens

From your cupboard:

* A little cooking oil (or water for softening vegetables)
* Black pepper
* Garlic powder or mixed herbs (optional)

You don’t even need to use the Camembert, although it would make a lovely creamy addition!

👩‍🍳 How to Make It

1️⃣ Get your pasta cooking!

Cook approximately 400g of pasta according to the packet instructions.

2️⃣ Prepare your vegetables.

Finely chop an onion, grate two carrots and shred a handful of leafy greens.

Gently soften the onion and carrots in a saucepan with a splash of water or oil.

3️⃣ Make your sauce.

Add the tin of chopped tomatoes and simmer for 10 minutes.

Add a splash of oat milk and a little garlic powder or mixed herbs if available.

4️⃣ Make it creamy!

Turn the heat down and stir in a few tablespoons of Greek yoghurt.

You can also melt in a little Camembert for extra flavour.

Don’t boil the sauce after adding the yoghurt, as it may split.

5️⃣ Cook your chicken.

Cook the Southern Fried Chicken Mini Fillets according to the packet instructions until piping hot throughout.

Slice them into smaller pieces to make the chicken stretch further.

6️⃣ Bring it all together!

Stir the greens into the hot sauce until cooked, then mix through the drained pasta.

Divide between four bowls and top with the crispy chicken.

And there you have it!
