ne Valley Canoe Club will focus on providing access to a range of Paddlesport disciplines to the local community, in a welcoming and supportive environment, creating a thirst for learning, through the sharing of knowledge and expertise. We aim to develop a physical infrastructure that supports all activity within the club. We are a responsible custodian for our waterways and the environment. Members meet weekly throughout the year (Fri nights) and there are regular trips on the weekends throughout the year for a variety of different kayak/canoe disciplines. Longer trips are also arranged. The club uses Prudhoe Waterworld Leisure Pool over the darker winter months to practice rescue skills in the warmth of the pool.

Dear Members of Prudhoe Town Council,

On behalf of Tyne Valley Canoe Club, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for the generous grant aid award. As a voluntary-run charity, we are currently facing mounting operational costs.

This funding provides vital support, ensuring we can continue to offer accessible paddling opportunities to our members and the wider community.

Your investment in local grassroots sport is incredibly valued and makes a tangible difference to our club’s sustainability.

Thank you for your continued support of our activities.

Best regards,

The Committee

Another group from Tyne Valley canoe club being introduced to marvels and intricacies of sea kayaks. Everyone coped very with in the confines and relative safety of the River Wear up to Monkwearmouth Bridge. Then it was back to a bit of safety awareness and rescue skills in the harbour area. The winds of force 4 gusting 6 made for some challenging conditions and raised an awareness of how quickly strong winds can blow you out to sea.

Some of club members flipped somersaults in excitement at being back at the pool session after the Christmas break.

Nice mellow trip from Bellingham to Wark in brilliant sunshine and decent river levels. The wind blew us along nicely. Herons and an egret and saw a quick glimpse of an otter. Some lovely friendly fishermen waved us along.

3 members of Tyne Valley Canoe Club set off to conquer this massive challenge
Wow we were emotionally moved to successfully complete this challenge from Berwick to Tynemouth and raise Β£1110 for MacMillan Cancer Care . We did 50 km and 11 hrs in a kayak on Saturday and 55km and 12.5 hours Sunday with a headwind over the total journey. Unfortunately Mark had to pull out after 15 km on day two after completing day one in much pain as his back seized up preventing him from using the most important core muscles.
What a reception the two remaining team members received on arrival as we struggled to climb out of our kayaks and walk up the beach.
We then presented Samantha Donaldson Joyce John Donaldson and his wife a paddle memento of Rick who lost his fight with cancer.
Thanks to the family for the kind gifts we were presented with at the finish line. This event was to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Care. You can still donate using the link.
