Encouraging

Latest CAA stats for Glasgow Prestwick Airport continue to be encouraging (August data) with passenger numbers now up to an MAT of 629,000 versus 609,000 for August 25. This is a rise of 3.3%.

Cargo had another good month with a total of 5548 Metric tonnes moved split by 4751 tonnes dropped off and 797 picked up. This compares with the August 25 totals of 3740 tonnes total and 3339 dropped off and 401 picked up.

Aircraft movements for the month were a total of 2,532 split between 627 air transport, 43 positioning, 798 training flights, 532 aeroclub, 219 private and 313 military movements.

I'll post the passenger data separately once I've worked them out.

The War Memorial at Prestwick Cross has been given first prize in the national and area awards for best kept War Memorial. The competition is arranged by the British Legion Scotland, and although we have been highly commended a few times, this is the first time we have won! Congratulations to all involved, especially our own community councillor Shirley Harris, who puts the War Memorial nomination forward every year. Great recognition for Prestwick.

Carers recognised as Provost attends annual event at Prestwick Academy

Carers from Prestwick, Troon and the surrounding villages have been recognised at the annual Prestwick Carers Day.

Held at Prestwick Academy, the event was attended by South Ayrshire Provost Iain Campbell, who delivered the vote of thanks and acknowledged the invaluable role carers play in supporting their loved ones.

The annual gathering celebrates the contribution of carers across the local communities and recognises their dedication to those they care for.

Provost Campbell was joined by Councillor Hugh Hunter, South Ayrshire Council’s Policy Lead for Health and Social Care, alongside members of the school community.
