The Mercat Gait Centre would like to announce that we will be running an NPLQ course starting 06/07/2026 and finishing with an assessment day of 11/07/2026.

The course will run for the whole week from 8.30am to 5pm with the Saturday assessment time to be confirmed. Full attendance every day will be required in order to sit the assessment.

If you or anyone you know are looking to get a foot in the leisure industry, this is a great chance to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

This afternoon at the Inspiring Volunteers Awards hosted by Volunteer Centre East Lothian, we had the absolute pleasure of seeing two truly outstanding members of the Pennypit Trust family recognised.

Volunteering is at the very heart of everything we do at the Pennypit Trust. As highlighted at today’s event, organisations like ours simply could not operate without the dedication, passion, and generosity of our volunteers 💜💚

A massive thank you to everyone who supports our charity - whether you’re picking up donations, helping transport members of our older community, supporting our pantry, or offering invaluable advice on governance and fundraising. It’s because of our community that we’re able to make such a meaningful impact.

Brian, your commitment as a trustee is second to none. You are always on hand with advice, ready to support any project, and play a vital role in guiding the Pennypit Trust. Your dedication not only strengthens our organisation but benefits the wider community – no task is ever too big.

Lexie, your energy and enthusiasm are truly inspiring. You consistently go above and beyond across a wide range of projects, working alongside staff to ensure our community is supported and included. Your dedication, positivity, and growing leadership skills are making a real difference.

📢 Community Pantry – Saturday 23rd May

Please note that tomorrow the pantry will close a little earlier than usual, at 12:30pm. Our normal service will still run from 11:00am–12:30pm, and regular opening hours will resume on Tuesday 26th May.

As it’s Cash for Kids Day, we’d like to say a huge thank you to Cash for Kids Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife & Falkirk for everything they do and the incredible support they provide to us here at Pennypit Trust. Supporters of this amazing charity have a direct impact on families in need.

Without their support - like many organisations - our programmes simply wouldn’t be the same, and some wouldn’t be possible at all. From helping stock our pantry, to supporting our holiday hunger programmes, to making our festive provision possible, their impact is felt right across everything we do.

We truly value and appreciate the strong partnership we’ve built over many years, and the difference it continues to make for children and families living in disadvantaged backgrounds throughout East Lothian and wider 🫶.
