Ofgem has announced that the Energy Price Cap will increase by 4%* from 1st October (*For a typical dual fuel household getting electricity and gas from the same supplier under a single contract, paying by Direct Debit).

If you are on a fixed rate energy tariff, the change to the price cap will not affect you while your fixed deal applies.

If you are on a standard variable tariff, it could be worth checking whether switching supplier or choosing a different tariff could save you money.

QR codes are quick and convenient, but scammers can use them to direct you to fake websites or apps designed to steal your personal or payment information.

Before you scan, take a moment to check:

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺? If it is in an email or letter, were you expecting to receive it?

𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲? In public places, such as car parks, check whether a sticker has been placed over the original QR code.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂? Check that the web address matches the organisation you expected and that the website is secure.

If you are struggling to pay your energy bills or have fallen behind, it is important to act as soon as you can.
