Members of Hutton and Howick WI were delighted to be invited to the unveiling of Edith Rigby’s statue at the Harris Museum in Preston. Edith was the first secretary of Lancashire’s very first WI, and we like to imagine the statue captures her setting off to a WI meeting.

Over the past few years the NFWI has been participating as a stakeholder in the project: ""Agency and Advocacy: Locating Women's Grassroots Activism in England and Ireland, 1918 to the present"". The project set out to identify how grassroots women’s organisations can co-identify strategies to safeguard their future activities and activism for the next 100+ years.

The project has led to the creation of the Activism 100+ Toolkit. The Toolkit contains the experiences, expertise, tips and ideas of members from various grassroots women’s organisations across Ireland and Britain. It also describes how best to advocate for the enhancement of the lives of women and girls locally, nationally and globally.
