Preston Cooperative Development Network

Preston Cooperative Development Network The Preston Cooperative Development Network (PCDN) works to expand the cooperative economy in Preston and build community wealth.

The Preston Co-operative Development Network exists to promote the development of co-operatives in Preston and the NW. It aims to contribute to a changing economy and a community based on solidarity and co-operation. It supports co-operatives through networking resources, providing advice and a shared identity. We actively promote the ideals of co-operative organisations and a way of life that is democratically driven and helps us all to participate and collaborate as citizens.

Our Impact: Teenspired

Preston Cooperative Development Network is proud to have supported Teenspired over the last year. Teenspired is a friendly social hub for teenage muslim girls. They host social events as well as sessions inspiring skills and personal growth.

Teenspired is a social enterprise that is part of PCDN’s Community Wealth Building efforts. Supporting local people through social initiatives such as this.
We asked Sumyya from Teenspired for some feedback on working with PCDN…

“PCDN has supported Teenspired over the past year by putting on a range of interactive workshops, led by experienced professionals, to educate and inspire us - from the sometimes-overlooked basics such as finance, to the more exciting 'conflict resolution'.
Jonny, Gaynor and co teamed us up with our ever-helpful mentor Aysha, and are at the end of an email or phone call to answer any questions we have. This constructive feedback loop has enabled us to consider how we work as an organisation and has enabled us to make a number of small improvements.
We have benefitted from accessing these opportunities, that we initially weren't even aware of, and look forward to continuing learning and networking to provide a worthwhile service for our users.”

If you want to get involved with Teenspired or give them support check them out (on Instagram)

Also, if you are a social enterprise, community group or wanting to start a cooperative get in touch with us here or email us at [email protected]

Interesting opportunity, maybe even to start a small coop..
🚀 Looking for a Passionate New Owner!

I started Back to Eden to bring affordable organic and local produce to Preston, and now, due to personal commitments, I’m looking for a highly motivated person to take it over – completely FREE! 🎉

🌽 What is it?
Back to Eden is a local and organic food distributer in the heart of Preston. Every two weeks at least 10 customers and sometimes more, order their groceries through our website.

❤️ Why am I giving it away?
I truly believe in this business’ potential, but I no longer have the time to give it the attention it deserves. Instead of shutting it down, I want to pass it to someone who will keep it growing and make it thrive.

✅ Who am I looking for?
If you are passionate about organic and local food, determined to make it work and ready to put in the effort - I'd love to hear from you!

Essential requirements:

🏠You live close to the Preston City Centre - we have customers from Broadgate, Ashton, Penwortham, New Longton, Cottam and Fulwood, so having a more or less central location would be key.

🚚 Customers/suppliers can easily get to your house - people will need to park somewhere in order to drop off or collect their boxes.

📦You have enough space in your garage or living room to place the boxes.

💪You can do some heavy lifting, as big veg boxes can be heavy.

💻You have worked with spreadsheets before.

🧑‍🏫You are teachable and willing to learn new skills.

☎️You are a good communicator - you will communicate a lot with customers and suppliers.

🧐You are attentive - you will be working with people's orders, which needs a lot of attention.

📅You can stay at home every other Wednesday to accept deliveries and give out boxes - of course you can still take holidays.

🎁What will you get from this?

🍫Brownie points...but seriously...appreciation from our current customers!
💷You'll earn a small profit - not enough to make a living, but perfect if you are retired, working part-time or want to obtain a business acumen without it affecting your benefits.

🛠️You will learn and develop a lot of skills - you will learn to run a business in a comfortable environment, when stakes are low and all start-up training is provided.

🤗You'll meet wonderful people and have a mini-community of your own.

😊 You will have a feeling of satisfaction from delivering a great and meaningful service.

🥦You can get your own veg box or sourdough bread at cost price.

💻 Best of all is that ALL TRAINING IS PROVIDED!

What's INCLUDED in this offer?
✅Training
✅Customer base
✅Webpage
✅Social media channels
✅Processes

What's NOT INCLUDED in this offer?
❌Branding (logo and name) - you will need to come up with your own
❌Email address - you will need to create your own to reflect a new name.
❌Anything else I forgot to mention!

📩 Interested?
Drop me an email explaining why you would be a good fit (remember to mention all essential criteria) and leave a phone number and suggest a few days/times I can get in touch with you.
