Lancashire ACF Round Up

It has been a busy few weeks here at Lancashire ACF. We had two teams of Cadets take part in Exercise Merlin Manoeuvre, a gruelling weekend competition that put the Cadets through their paces while allowing them to experience new and exciting activities. We are pleased to report that both teams performed well, finishing in a respectable 10th and 15th place out of thirty.

Our Senior Girls’ Football Team represented the North West Region and went on to become National Champions. Congratulations to all the Cadets involved, as well as the adult volunteers and support staff who helped make this outstanding achievement possible.

Over the Easter period, we also delivered a wide range of activities. These included a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bronze Expedition, a residential STEM course for a group of Cadets, and our County Easter Camp. The camp programme featured a Drill Cadre, Adventurous Training activities, CIS courses at both Three Star and Four Star level, and a One Star Cadre.

Everyone had an amazing time and is looking forward to the rest of the Easter break. Thank you once again to everyone who took part and helped support these events.

Last weekend was a busy one at Lancashire ACF. Egypt Coy were out at Altcar Camp for their Skill at Arms Weekend, while Salerno Coy were at Fulwood Barracks taking part in their annual Military Skills Competition.

It looks like an amazing time was had by both companies. Well done to everyone who made it happen, and thank you for the photos — they look fantastic.

We are delighted to congratulate Cadet RSM R Worthington on her appointment as Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), Lancashire ACF.

RSM Worthington follows in the footsteps of some of Lancashire ACF’s finest cadets. The rank of RSM represents the pinnacle of a cadet’s career, and this achievement reflects a great deal of hard work, commitment, and dedication.

We currently have an excellent group of Four Star Cadets, and we look forward to working with you all in the coming months.

RSM Worthington was presented with her rank by Commandant Joanne Eccles MBE.

What an amazing half term!

Sixteen Cadets and staff from Lancashire headed out to Bavaria for an unforgettable skiing adventure. From hitting the slopes to making new friends and gaining qualifications, it was a trip to remember!

A huge thank you goes to our fantastic CFAVs who gave up their time to attend and support the Cadets throughout the expedition — we couldn’t do this without you.
Behind the scenes, a great deal of work went into planning the trip to make sure it was both fun and affordable for our Cadets.

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to ACCT UK, The Ulysses Trust, and our charity, The Friends of Lancashire ACF, whose generous support helped make this opportunity possible.

County HQ recently hosted a two-day CyberFirst Adventures programme, attended by cadets from across the county. The course introduced participants to cyber security, technological advancements, and practical applications in daily life. Cadets engaged in hands-on activities such as data analysis, web development, team selection using player statistics, and the popular Crack the Code challenge, which was completed in a record 15 minutes. The event provided valuable insights into the positive uses and potential risks of technology.

Over the past few weeks, cadets and staff from all areas of Lancashire have been actively supporting the Poppy Appeal. Their dedication and commitment have been evident, with participation culminating today in remembrance parades held throughout the county.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event and generously gave up their time in support of this important cause.

It has been a very busy half term for both Cadets and Staff at Lancashire ACF.

Twelve Cadets attended and successfully completed the Four Star event at Altcar. Additionally, four of our CFAVs took part in their Basic Instructor Assessment (BIA). We look forward to working with all our new instructors, both Cadets and Adults.

Eighteen Cadets, along with staff, also participated in a cultural excursion to Bavaria. Everyone had an amazing time, and we would like to extend our thanks to our charity, the Friends of Lancashire ACF, who generously donated £3,000 towards the trip, making it more affordable for the Cadets.

Our final parade, the culmination of a fantastic week here at Barry Buddon Camp. Lots of awards and prizes were given to the Cadets for their hard work, not only on annual camp but throughout the year.

A huge thanks to all the CFAV’s who have given their time to make this camp such a huge success from the support staff to the staff delivering the training.

We would also like to thank our Charity the Friends of Lancashire ACF who not only helped fund the Cadets tuck shop (every Cadet had crisps, chocolate and can of drink every night), payment towards AT and also supported by providing garden games and facilities in the Chill Out Room to keep the Cadets entertained of an evening.

We would also like to thank NWRFCA who paid half towards the Cadets tuck shop.
