Last weekend, a group of Lancashire Army Cadet Force cadets had the exciting opportunity to attend an Esports event at the University of Lancashire.

The event gave cadets an insight into the rapidly growing world of competitive gaming, technology, and digital careers. Throughout the day, they explored the esports environment, learned about the skills involved in competitive gaming, and experienced the teamwork, communication, and strategic thinking that are essential both in esports and within the Army Cadet Force.

One of the highlights of the day was taking part in HADO, an augmented reality sport that combines physical activity with esports. Our cadets went head-to-head with the Air Cadets in a series of exciting matches, demonstrating great teamwork, determination, and competitive spirit throughout.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our cadets to engage with new experiences, broaden their horizons, and discover potential future pathways in an innovative and expanding industry.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising the event and to our cadets for representing Lancashire ACF so well throughout the day.

Over the weekend, cadets from across the county took part in the first leadership course, developing their understanding of what effective leadership looks like in practice. Throughout the programme, they explored key leadership principles, reflected on self-awareness, and applied a range of practical tools through hands-on experiential tasks. On Saturday evening, the cadets had the opportunity to host the Commandant and Honorary Colonel at a small function, where they proudly demonstrated the skills and confidence they had developed during the course.

International Military Pilgrimage 2026 – Lourdes

Two weeks ago, cadets from Lancashire ACF, Cumbria ACF and Newman CCF travelled to Lourdes, France, to take part in the International Military Pilgrimage (IMP), joining around 25,000 military personnel and young people from across the world.

The pilgrimage began with a spectacular opening ceremony, bringing together national delegations in a celebration of friendship, unity and faith. Over four days, the cadets attended a variety of services and events, including a dawn Mass at the Grotto of St Bernadette, while also meeting and socialising with participants from many different countries.

The pilgrimage concluded with a visit to a military respite centre in the mountains above Lourdes, which supports serving personnel, veterans and military families.

An unforgettable experience for all involved, creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

This weekend, 14 cadets and 6 CFAVs had the privilege of attending the Major General’s Review at St James’s Palace.

The Major General’s Review is one of the formal rehearsals for Trooping the Colour, the King's Birthday Parade. It gives participating troops the opportunity to rehearse the ceremony ahead of the main event while maintaining the highest standards of military precision and tradition.

Alongside the review, the group enjoyed sightseeing around London, taking in some of the capital’s iconic landmarks, including a visit to the Imperial War Museum, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

The weekend was a fantastic experience for both cadets and adult volunteers, providing a unique opportunity to witness British military tradition, explore the capital, and enjoy time together as a group.

Despite the tough terrain, everyone gave it their all and showed plenty of determination, resilience, and team spirit throughout the weekend.

A big well done to all the cadets who took part, and thank you to the adult volunteers who supported the weekend and helped make it happen.

Last weekend, Wingate Company took part in their Fieldcraft Weekend, designed to enhance cadets’ skills and prepare them for Annual Camp.

Throughout the weekend, cadets developed their fieldcraft knowledge, teamwork, and confidence through a range of challenging and rewarding training activities. The weekend concluded on a high with excellent training outcomes and well-deserved promotions for many of the cadets.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved for their hard work, commitment, and professionalism. We look forward to seeing these skills put into practice at Annual Camp!
