A Successful Conclusion to National Cadets Week!

We are delighted to mark the successful conclusion of the inaugural National Cadets Week.

Seventeen Cadets from across West Lancashire District participated in a comprehensive training weekend, focusing on Basic Seamanship and Basic Catering. Throughout the weekend, the cadets gained valuable knowledge and developed practical life skills that will support both their ongoing cadet progression and personal development.

Our sincere thanks go to all the instructors and volunteers involved. Your continued hard work, dedication, and commitment to the Corps and our cadets are essential to delivering these highly successful courses.

Please continue to monitor the District page, the portal, and the T&A website for upcoming courses and opportunities throughout the year.

District Training Update

We would like to extend our sincere congratulations to the staff members and two Cadets who successfully completed the First Aid at Work course over the weekend. The sessions were exceptionally comprehensive, equipping all participants with vital, practical knowledge and emergency response capabilities.

We look forward to seeing these enhanced skills applied effectively across our local units.

Additionally, we express our sincere gratitude to the two Instructors who generously volunteered their time to facilitate this course. Their dedication and effort were essential to the successful delivery of this event and continue to strengthen our capability to provide high-quality training directly at the District level.

West Lancashire District Courses

We are pleased to announce the upcoming West Lancashire District courses taking place over the next three months. There is still time to secure a place before bookings close, so we encourage all eligible cadets to take advantage of these fantastic opportunities.

Our district courses provide cadets with the chance to gain valuable qualifications, develop new practical skills, and broaden their experiences in a range of subjects. They also offer an excellent opportunity to visit other units across the district, meet fellow cadets, and build lasting friendships and networks within the Sea Cadet community.

Courses currently available include:

First Aid at Work
Junior STEM Weekend
Basic Seamanship
Basic Catering
Basic Marine Engineering
Basic Air R***e Shooting

These courses are designed to challenge, inspire, and help cadets develop both personally and professionally.

Places are limited, so be sure to book your place as soon as possible.

Another fantastic weekend at West Lancashire District! We successfully hosted two courses: Basic Peer Educator and Basic Physical Training.

Across the district, 21 cadets took part—13 on Physical Training and 8 on Basic Peer Educator. After a busy, demanding weekend, we achieved a 100% pass rate. A massive well done to every cadet who attended and put in the hard work.

A huge thank you to Sea Cadets Fleetwood for hosting us, as well as all the dedicated staff—many of whom traveled long distances—who worked tirelessly to instruct and support throughout the weekend.

What an incredible week at the District Boating Week! 🛶⛵

Our cadets had an outstanding time on the water, with every cadet completing a minimum of two qualifications—and many achieving three, thanks to our additional evening rowing sessions.

In total, the District earned an impressive 68 qualifications across the board. A special shout-out to our dedicated staff members who also took part and earned qualifications in Paddlesport and Powerboating!

I would like to personally extend a massive thank you to all the staff for their tireless dedication, leadership, and hard work throughout the week to make this event such a resounding success.

👑 A Historic Day for West Lancs District! 👑

We are bursting with pride for Isle of Man Sea Cadets, who were honoured with an invitation to Government House on Tuesday afternoon for the visit of His Majesty the King!

Our amazing Cadets and CFAVs formed a flawless Guard of Honour and Standard Party to welcome the Royal arrival.
Shoutout to Leading Cadet Harry, currently serving as a Lieutenant Governor’s Cadet, who represented the Corps on the highest stage with incredible smartness and professionalism.

You all looked sharp, stood tall, and represented the entire Sea Cadet Corps perfectly.

Congratulations to West Lancashire District Junior Sea Cadets on another highly successful Junior Earthshot weekend.

Over the course of the weekend, Junior Cadets came together to complete the Junior Earthshot Challenge. For those unfamiliar with the initiative, the challenge is designed for Junior Cadets and is inspired by the Earthshot Prize, launched by Sir David Attenborough and HRH The Prince of Wales in 2020. Its aim is to encourage young people to consider practical ways to help reverse the climate emergency and contribute towards repairing the environment by 2030.

The challenge is delivered using a specially designed booklet and structured modules, guiding the Juniors through five project areas. Activities undertaken included building bird feeders as part of the Restore Nature project; creating eco-bricks and seed paper for the Build a Waste-Free World project; role play exercises to explore individual carbon footprints and identify ways to reduce them; and a beach clean, during which a significant amount of plastic waste was collected — along with many other engaging and educational activities.

A huge thank you goes to all the staff who supported the weekend. Your time, commitment and dedication play an essential role in making opportunities like this possible, and your efforts are greatly appreciated.
