🎉 We have some exciting news! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to announce that Preston's Promise has been shortlisted as one of the final four finalists in the BBC Radio Lancashire Make a Difference Awards 2026 in the Community Group Award category.

With over 1,000 entries received this year, reaching the final four is an amazing honour and a reflection of the dedication, compassion and hard work of our incredible volunteers, trustees, supporters, Frenchwood Community Primary School and everyone who has stood beside us.

This recognition belongs to every person who has volunteered their time, donated, partnered with us, or supported our projects. Whether it's our weekly pantry, Bags of Hope, homeless outreach, Ramadan campaigns, working with local Scout groups, or our newest Avenham Garden project with Onward Homes, every initiative is focused on bringing people together, supporting those in need and creating lasting positive change in our community.

Thank you to BBC Radio Lancashire and the judges for recognising our work. We look forward to celebrating with the other finalists at the awards ceremony on 12th September.

Most importantly, thank you to our community for believing in our mission. Together, we will continue to support those who need us most.

This is the lovely Chris who is one of the volunteers and works all year round tending to the Grange garden. He has been delivering us black/white currants, gooseberries, potatoes for the last 3 weeks.
Thank you from all of us 🌟

Today, Chris has delivered us some locally grown onions and potatoes for our pantry tomorrow. Make sure to bring your *shopping bag* as well as *smaller bags* for your potatoes and onions 😀

As well as lots of other goodies, you'll have another chance to pick up some fresh courgettes this Saturday!

Looking for a new way to enjoy them? Simply spiralise a courgette using a spiraliser or the spiralising blade on a food processor... and voilà! You have a healthy alternative to noodles – *zoodles!*

They're delicious with pasta sauce, stir-fries, pesto or your favourite toppings. Why not give them a try?

Um Zubair's daughter has been busy. She has been searching for recipes online and found one -

Did you know that zucchini is another word for courgettes?

These have been sliced into rings and coated.

Shallow fried in a non stick pan which is much healthier than deep fried 😁

Enjoy with a chilli or soy sauce dip, side salad and a nice cuppa 😋

Yes, no doubt some of you guessed correctly. Dhebra or spicy Gujrati flat bread!
