WELCOME TO A NEW COMMUNITY INITIATIVE IN PRESTON!

Cooking with English is both a page and an exciting new project coming to the Preston area. The idea was born out of a vision to engage with women who have come to our city as migrants. Whether they are asylum seekers or refugees their journey has been one of challenge and displacement. These women need a warm welcome and encouragement to improve their English speaking skills and to integrate through creative and hospitable initiatives.

Preston is a City of Sanctuary, one of almost 100 in the UK. This means that our City has pledged to offer ‘a culture of welcome and safety’

Starting in January a group of us are going to launch a short term Cooking with English project for migrant women from different countries with a common desire to learn more English. The cookery demonstrations are going to be lessons creatively constructed to make language learning accessible and fun.
