Blog Preston’s recent article on the Sutton Trust report makes sobering reading, with Preston ranked in the 539 out of 543 nationally for young people.

But our young people have so much potential! ❤️

The Preston Youth Strategy, investment in Vault Youth Zone and Foxton, and the growing voice of young people are all positive steps forward.

At Foxton, we’ll keep championing youth work in local communities, supporting Tanterton Community Centre and working with partners like LCC, Moor Nook and Preston Community Hub in Fishwick.

Let’s keep making things better for Preston’s young people and give them the opportunities they deserve and hopefully improve that picture for the future! 💙

Behind every number is a person who needed support.

This year, we’ve supported young people facing homelessness, women experiencing hidden homelessness, and thousands of people through our Community Centre.

But the need continues to grow, and securing the funding to meet it is becoming harder.

At Foxton, we’ve been supporting our community since 1969. We want to keep being there for the people who need us, but we can’t do it alone.

Your donation can help us continue supporting people across Preston when they need us most.

A huge thank you to our community this week. 👏

All Saints Harvest Donation was full of fresh veg so our Women's group alongside Sanctuary Cookalong made soup for our Homeless Outreach services.
🥦🍅🫜🌱

They loved something warm and tasty on the streets as our team continued to help those out and about around the city. 🍵☕

Archbishop Temple High School also brought in some much needed food so we can support those who have little in new accommodation or helping some of our young people who are homeless to access hot food in our youth centre or those who are sofa surfing.

Jarrod and Michelle from Rowlec Ltd who brought in sleeping bags, thermal socks, hats, gloves and snoods for those people who are currently rough sleeping.

It's getting cold out there so these food donations really make a difference!

💙 At The Foxton, we support people across Preston through three key areas of work:

Homelessness services: Supporting people experiencing homelessness through practical help, outreach, and access to essential services.

Youth services: Providing young people with safe spaces, activities, guidance and support to help them build brighter futures.

Women’s services: Supporting women experiencing homelessness, involvement in challenging circumstances through outreach, safe spaces and tailored support.

Together, we work to create a safer, more supportive community where people can access the help they need.

It’s been a slightly different couple of days for the Foxton team this week as we’ve taken two days out to focus on our work, and our learning ❤️

We’ve had some really important sessions around safeguarding, reflection, self-defence training and team building — giving us the chance to step away from the day-to-day, reflect on what we do and make sure we continue to support the people we work with in the best way we can.

A huge thank you to Nik and Sam for keeping us all fed over the two days and to Pam for delivering our self-defence training. This is something we’re really excited to continue rolling out to young women over the coming months, helping them feel more confident and safer.

And a big thank you to our friends and partners at Beanstalk for managing the Community Centre while our team have been away.

But we’ve been back out today! 👣

Our team were back on the streets around Preston, continuing to support people who are rough sleeping, experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.

We’ve be running our new health drop-in and support service, making sure people can access the practical, health and wider support they need.

So, if you see the Foxton team out and about, come and say hello. And if you need us, please don’t be afraid to stop us and have a chat.

We’re still here. We’re still out there. And we’re still supporting our community. ❤️

WOW....... !!!!

We honestly can’t believe the kindness, feedback and support we’ve had from our friends, colleagues and partner organisations over the last few days. It has meant so much to the whole Foxton team.❤️

We’ve had some beautiful messages from the public , supporters, our colleagues services like probation, health, police etc, much-needed chocolates 🍫 from our friends at Inspire (CGL).

As well as practical support from our good friends at Global Ardour who have provided skips to help us clear and reorganise our spaces.♻️

And our good friends at Emmaus Preston have gone absolutely ABOVE and BEYOND helping us move everything from our Fox Street sites to our other locations. That’s four and a half Luton vans full! 🚚

We’re making sure everything we can use goes back into our ongoing work, and where we have excess furniture and equipment, we’re passing it on to other charities across Preston so it can continue to be useful and support people in our communities.

It’s been a huge job, and at times an emotional one, but it has also reminded us of something really important…

Foxton is so much more than a building.

Some people have been asking… are we closing?

The answer is NO!!! ❤️

We’re just changing our services.

We’re still here. We’re still working. We’re still supporting people across Preston and beyond — we’re just doing things differently and changing our services to meet the needs of our communities.

And we really can’t say thank you enough to everyone who has supported us through this change. ❤️

To our partners, volunteers, supporters, friends and colleagues — thank you for the messages, the practical help, the chocolate, the skips, the vans, the furniture moving and, most importantly, for believing in what Foxton does.

We genuinely couldn’t do it without you.

We’re not closing.

We’re changing, adapting and carrying on — and we’re incredibly excited about what comes next. ❤️
