🌌 Last night’s theme was COSMOS! 🚀

From space and the universe to some fantastic speeches a little closer to home, it was another brilliant evening at Preston Speaking Club.

🎤 Natasha delivered her Icebreaker, sharing a moment she once thought she’d never speak about again — and how that experience ultimately brought her to where she is today. A fantastic first speech, earning her joint Best Speaker!

🗣️ Dan explored the importance of communication and why it matters, getting the whole room involved along the way. An engaging and interactive speech that also earned him joint Best Speaker!

👏 Paul bravely shared his experiences of living with a stammer and spoke about how the Stop Stutter programme has helped him on his journey.

🌠 Our Cosmos-themed Table Topics were also a highlight, with some brilliant impromptu responses that had the whole room laughing!

🏆 Competition Night at Preston Speaking Club!

A brilliant evening of speeches, competition and plenty of support from our members and guests!

A huge well done to Rob Christopher, Ross Heubner and Daniel Sackey for three fantastic speeches 👏

Rob also delivered a fantastic speech but unfortunately ran just over the time limit — so close! 😢👏

Congratulations to Ross, who now has the opportunity to represent Preston Speaking Club at the Area Online Speech Contest! 🎉

Hakuna Matata! 🌴🎤

With ‘Hakuna Matata’ as the theme of the evening, we had another fantastic night at Preston Speaking Club, with three brilliant speeches!

🎶 Tom explored the relationship between music, culture and politics, looking at how music helped inspire change around the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

😂 Vidath had us laughing with a speech about the different ways people communicate, packed with jokes along the way — and took home our Best Speaker award! 🏆

👏 And Paul delivered his first Ice Breaker, sharing his personal journey with a stutter and how the Stop Stutter programme helped him overcome his stammer. A fantastic first speech!

The speeches were followed by another fantastic Table Topics session, with plenty of great impromptu speeches from our members and guests! 🎤

Our next meeting is Thursday 17th September, and it’s a special one — Competition Night! 🏆

Spectators and guests are very welcome, so come along and see what Toastmasters is all about!

A night of Redemption at Preston Speaking Club 🎤💪

Last Thursday brought another great evening at Preston Speaking Club, with prepared speeches from our members, Table Topics, and plenty of laughs along the way.

Our theme for the evening was Redemption, with Rejuvenate as our Word of the Day — to make something feel fresh, new or full of energy again!

Fancy giving public speaking a go? Whether you want to build your confidence, improve your communication or simply meet some new people, you’re more than welcome to come along.

We had a fantastic evening at Toastmasters yesterday! 🎤

The night featured three excellent speeches, each bringing something completely different.

Simon kicked us off with a speech about quick thinking and having the courage to put forward different ideas, inspired by a hackathon he recently attended.

Next up was Allan with his heart-warming wedding speech. All the best for the big day, Allan — you’ll smash it! 👏

Zakir rounded off the speeches with a fascinating talk exploring how AI is deaf, dumb and blind.

We also had a brilliant Table Topics session, with many of our new guests getting involved and taking on the challenge of speaking on the spot. It was great to see so many people stepping up and giving it a go! 👏

What a brilliant evening! 🙌

We had an amazing time at our Preston Speakers Club summer social at Chew’s Yard! 🍻☀️

A great chance to step away from the speeches, relax, catch up and enjoy some good food and even better company.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made it such an enjoyable evening — already looking forward to the next one! 🥂

Hi everyone! Hope you’re having a great week so far! 🙌

Just a reminder that next Thursday we’ll be swapping speeches for great food, good conversation and hopefully some sunshine at our Preston Speaking Club Summer Social! ☀️🍔🍹

Whether you’re a long-standing member, a guest who’s been meaning to come along, or you’d like to bring a friend or family member, everyone is welcome. It’s the perfect chance to get to know people outside of our usual meetings in a relaxed setting.

Another incredible evening at Preston Speaking Club yesterday! 😁🙌

We heard an insightful speech from Tom, exploring why sleep matters and why it’s time to challenge some of society’s outdated attitudes towards rest.

Sajid then delivered a thought-provoking speech based on the parable of the farmer, reminding us how happiness and hardship are often intertwined, and why it’s not always wise to judge events too quickly.

We also had a fantastic Table Topics session, with an incredible 11 participants taking part. Everyone rose to the challenge of speaking under pressure—many for the very first time. It was especially great to see so many guests getting involved and giving it a go.

If you’d like to build your confidence and improve your public speaking, we’d love to welcome you as a guest.

Another great evening at Preston Toastmasters on Thursday!

A huge congratulations to our three speakers:

Well done to everyone who took on a role during the evening and helped make the meeting a success.

What an incredible evening we had last Thursday! 🙌

We were treated to three excellent speeches from our members.

Craig kicked off the evening by taking us on a journey of both mental and physical resilience, sharing his experience of training for boxing and stepping into the ring for Fight Night.

Next came Mariola with her very first speech—the famous Ice Breaker. Despite the nerves that come with any first speech, she spoke with confidence and composure, sharing how choosing courage over comfort has helped her grow as a person and face her fears.

We then heard from Lindsey, who delivered a thought-provoking speech on navigating our ever-changing world. She shared practical advice on preparing for the impact of AI on our careers and highlighted why adaptability is one of the most valuable skills we can develop.

The evening finished with some fantastic Table Topics centred around the theme of unfinished goals. It was inspiring to see both members and guests getting involved, sharing their thoughts, and challenging themselves to speak on the spot.
