Friends of Poynton Pool and Poynton Town Council recently had a 6-hour workshop and site visit with Cheshire East Council and their engineers. There has been collaboration and grounds for optimism. Further meetings are planned in the coming months to continue discussions and we will keep you updated on progress.

Friends of Poynton Pool were not informed of the Council’s plan to temporarily reduce the water levels at Poynton Pool , even though we met with Cheshire East Council and Jacobs two days before it was announced to our Cheshire East Councillors in a closed meeting. Our Councillors discussed it with us in the belief that we had been informed .
Friends of Poynton Pool are considering the implications of this proposed action and how best to respond.

Just to draw your attention to a recent planning application (permission in principle) for 9 houses on the triangle at the corner of Glastonbury drive /Vicarage Lane .

Poynton Pool is classed as a high risk reservoir (category B ). If more houses are built 30 m downstream of Poynton Pool it is possible that the risk rating will increase from category B to category A . If this happens then at the next reservoir inspection (in 2034 or possibly before ) we could lose all the trees and incur works at significant public expense .

It is worth noting that Vicarage Lane has flooded within the last 10 years.

If you wish to object please do so BEFORE 11TH MARCH .

Planning application number : 25/4892/PIP
