She did it!
Last Saturday, Jaya Mental Health Ambassador Anna Rex completed the challenging Langtang Trail Race in Nepal – and thanks to her determination and the generosity of her supporters, she has raised over Β£3,000, including Gift Aid for Jaya Mental Health.
Anna's race was far from easy. She woke up at 3am to thunderstorms and heavy rain, with the race start delayed until 10am due to poor visibility. The 32km route featured undulating trails, steep climbs, endless steps, challenging descents and temperatures reaching 30Β°C. Along the way, runners even had to stop to allow caravans of donkeys to pass!
Despite the demanding conditions, Anna pushed through and crossed the finish line after an incredible 7 Β½ hours, finishing as the 10th female runner!

While completing the race was an amazing achievement in itself, the impact of Anna's fundraising will be felt far beyond the finish line.
The funds raised will help Jaya Mental Health bring community mental health support to people living in areas where access to mental health care is extremely limited or non-existent. Through awareness, training, community outreach and local support, we can help ensure that more people experiencing mental health challenges have somewhere to turn for help.
From everyone at Jaya Mental Health, thank you, Anna. We are incredibly grateful for your dedication, resilience and commitment to improving mental health in Nepal. πŸ’™

Please join us in congratulating Anna on this fantastic achievement! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

If you know Angelo and Sagoon, you'll know that wherever they travel, the conversation usually ends up revolving around food.

Between training sessions, site visits and long days of work, they've been making time to do what they both love most: exploring local cuisine, sharing meals, and getting to know people through the stories that are told around a table.

This month, those conversations are taking place in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
We are incredibly proud that Angelo Leo, our Clinical Nurse Educator, and Sagoon KC, our Head of Programmes, have been invited by Sajida Foundation to spend three weeks delivering training in de-escalation and violence prevention to clinical staff working in one of Dhaka's few specialist mental health hospitals.

For Jaya Mental Health, this is an exciting milestone. It is the first time we have been invited to work in Bangladesh, and an important step in our commitment to supporting mental health services across South Asia and beyond.

The photographs here capture only a small part of the story. Alongside the workshops, role plays and skills development sessions, this visit is about building relationships, learning from one another, and laying the foundations for what we hope will become a long-term collaboration with Sajida Foundation.

Mental health challenges know no borders, and neither should the sharing of knowledge, compassion and good practice.

We're grateful to Sajida Foundation for their trust and partnership, and we're excited to see where these first seeds of collaboration lead.

Race day is almost here!

Today, Anna Rex reached Kyanjin Gompa in the stunning Langtang Valley, where runners collected their race t-shirts and numbers ahead of tomorrow's 32km Langtang Trail Run.

In the video we're sharing today, Anna talks about how poignant it has been to hear local conversations about the impact su***de has had on communities in this region. It has reinforced why she is so passionate about raising funds for Jaya Mental Health and the importance of bringing support to communities that currently have no access to mental health care. Through training local health workers, Jaya is helping to create sustainable mental health support where it is needed most.

There has also been time for a well-earned treat at the famous Dorje Bakery after days of trekking through the Himalayas!
Everyone at Jaya is wishing Anna the very best of luck for tomorrow's race. We are incredibly grateful for her determination and for everyone who has supported her so far.

A huge THANK YOU for helping Anna raise more than Β£2,000 towards her Β£3,000 target!

Anna Rex's Langtang Trail Run update - two days in!
After a six-hour white-knuckle drive from Kathmandu to Syafru, Anna and her fellow participants trekked to Bamboo before continuing today towards Langtang Village at an altitude of 3,430m. Today alone involved 10 hours of uphill walking, along with monsoon rain, squat toilets, and approximately 3 dhal bhats a day πŸ›πŸ›πŸ›.

She's also discovered that out of 120 participants, she's the only non-Nepalese runner and one of only 16 women taking part. When fellow runners asked her age, more than one responded with: "That's older than my mum!" πŸ˜‚

Despite starting out in 30Β°C heat and battling the elements, spirits are high. Anna has persuaded her friend Belu to join her on the adventure, and the stunning scenery is making every challenge worthwhile.

The trekking is all part of the build-up to the Langtang Trail Run on 6 June, with the 32km race starting at a breathtaking 3,900m altitude, making this challenge even tougher than it sounds!

Anna is taking on this incredible challenge to raise Β£3,000 – enough to fund a community mental health nurse in Nepal for an entire year, helping hundreds of people access vital mental health support.

Good luck, Anna – we're all cheering you on from home! πŸ’™

Building sustainable change through local leadership.

We are delighted to celebrate the successful completion of our Train-the-Trainer Mentorship Programme at the Mental Hospital Lagankhel, Nepal.

Over the past months, we have worked alongside dedicated nursing professionals to strengthen skills, confidence, and leadership in clinical mentoring and education. The programme was designed not only to support today's nursing workforce but also to equip participants with the tools to deliver high-quality in-house training for current and future nursing mentors.

The passion, commitment, and enthusiasm shown by the nursing team throughout this journey have been truly inspiring. By investing in local expertise and creating a sustainable model of peer learning and mentorship, we are helping to build stronger foundations for the future of mental health care.

A heartfelt thank you to all the nurses, mentors, hospital leadership, and partners who made this programme possible. We look forward to seeing the knowledge, skills, and leadership developed through this initiative continue to grow and benefit patients, colleagues, and communities for years to come.

Together, we are strengthening capacity, nurturing future leaders, and creating lasting impact.
