Proud of our young people today.
Thank you to Senior Cadets J. Dickerson and C. Loughlin, and Junior Cadet Cali Robinson, for delivering a warm welcome and a brilliant seamanship session for Jason and his daughters through the North Coast Community Exchange.
Your leadership, kindness, and community spirit were clear to see — fantastic representation of our unit.

📣 Junior Sea Cadets Update

Our Junior Section is now at full capacity, and we’re unable to take on any new cadets at this time. A waiting list is now open, with the next anticipated space becoming available in September 2025.

Thank you to everyone for your incredible interest and support — it means the world to our team and our young people.

⚓ Good news for older cadets:
We still have spaces available in our Senior Sea Cadets, open to young people aged 12–18 years. If your child is interested in joining a dynamic, supportive, and adventurous youth organisation, we’d love to hear from you.

A huge thank you to our incredible committee members for securing the funding that made this possible. Your hard work means we can continue growing our programme — with the long‑term goal of supporting young people to achieve their Duke of Edinburgh PortrushSeaCadets ke of Edinburgh qualifications in the future.

Exciting times ahead for our unit and our cadets!

What a journey!

Nautilus International has reconnected with member Gareth Hampton – once a cadet we interviewed back in 2020, now a fully qualified chief mate working on cruiseships.

In our latest feature (with a NautilusTV video), Gareth talks about:
• discovering maritime life through the Sea Cadets
• completing his Chief Mate ticket
• supporting young people as an MSSC (Marine Society & Sea Cadets) trustee
• building his career, confidence and leadership at sea

As British Science Week in March concluded, we think Gareth's story is a brilliant example of where STEM skills and early maritime experiences can lead.

Our Junior Sea Cadets had a brilliant STEM LEGO night to celebrate National LEGO Day! The juniors took on tower‑building, Sea Cadet base design, floating‑boat tests, mystery builds, and a final rescue‑vehicle challenge. Teamwork, creativity, and plenty of laughs all the way through.
Awards went to Best Teamwork, Most Creative Build, and Most Sea‑Cadet‑Spirit — every cadet smashed it.

🌊 Calling Our Amazing Community! 🌊
Junior Sea Cadets – Equipment Appeal

We’re looking for used or unwanted rowing machines to help our cadets keep up their fitness and skills during the off‑season. If you have a machine gathering dust, taking up space, or no longer needed, we’d love to give it a new home!

Our aim is to set up an indoor training area so the young people can stay active, build confidence, and keep developing their rowing technique even when the weather keeps us indoors.

💙 What we’re looking for:
• Any make or model
• Working or easily fixable
• Free or low‑cost donations very welcome

If you can help — or know someone who might — please drop me a message. Your support makes a huge difference to our cadets.

Thank you from all of us at Portrush Sea Cadets! ⚓💪

🌟 Thank You to Cancer Focus NI 🌟

A huge thank you to Cancer Focus NI and facilitator Suzie McCotter for delivering such an engaging and informative session with both our junior and senior cadets. The workshop highlighted the dangers of UVA and UVB rays in a way that really connected with our young people.

We’re especially grateful for the thoughtful gift of UV bead bracelets – a simple but powerful visual tool that showed just how far UV rays can reach. The cadets loved them, and they made the learning experience even more memorable.

👏 Your support helps us build awareness and encourage positive habits that protect health and wellbeing.

📢 If any other Sea Cadet units would like to arrange a similar session, please get in touch with PO Martin.
