Wednesday 28th May Chesil Lodge No 8149 met as usual for its regular meeting & the highlight of the evening was the presentation of a certificate for 40 years of service to Freemasonry by WM William Ford.
The contents of the certificate was addressed to the Officers, members & distinguished guests of the Lodge by the Provincial Senior Grand Deacon Simon Davis.
This was followed by an interview with WM William Ford by the Assistant Provincial Grand Master Michael Parkes that related to both the Masonic history & the concise life story of WM William Ford that brought him up to date with the award of the certificate for forty years of service to Chesil Lodge 8149 & the craft.
The Lodge was then closed in due form followed by a bumper meal at the festive board.

“Gladiators ready!”
“Contenders ready!”
Not every day one gets to meet Jefferson King of the original Gladiators who turned out to be “One of We” and that is what happened when I accepted an invite to Loyal Manor Lodge No 6445 on the Island & Royal Manor of Portland last Friday evening.

Burns Night was celebrated by Chesil Lodge 8149 on Wednesday night 29th January at their regular meeting.
The festive board was a “white table cloth evening” that means the brethren may invite non-masonic friends & relatives to the festive board.
In order not to neglect our guests the meeting within the temple lasted no more than half an hour before the brethren re-joined their gusts at the festive board upon which an “address to the haggis” was given.
A most enjoyable evening was had by all as can be seen by the accompanying photographs.

The funeral of John Edward Russ was well attended by family, friends and members of the Masonic order and memories of John were fondly related too by his wife & two daughters who shared their memories of him with the attended mourners.
This ceremony was followed by the mourners gathering at the Masonic Hall in Portland where the bar was well attended resulting in a celebration of life that I am sure that WBro John would have been most appreciative off & this was accompanied by a delicious buffet laid out in the festive board room of the United Service & Chesil Lodge’s bar area.
