Welcome to Friendly Face Friday!

Every Friday, we'll be introducing a different member of staff so you can get to know the people supporting and caring for your children a little better β€” and learn more about the team behind Park House.

This week we have Jen, one of our cleaners

Hey, I'm Jennifer. I am one of the cleaners 🧹with Park house. I've been with Action for Children for almost two years. My job means I unfortunately don't get to see the children or parents too often, so you may not recognise my face.

I make sure that Park house is a clean and comfortable environment for the children. I love making sure the bedrooms are set up with their favourite bedding and comfort items. My favourite part of my job is coming in and being told by staff that a child was excited by their favourite character being on their bedding, or going straight to their room and cwtching in with their blanket. I take a lot of pride in making sure everything is ready for them. I also love the events that Park house puts on for the children, parents and staff as it gives me the opportunity to meet everyone and put some faces to the names I know.

Outside of work I have my own three children to clean up after πŸ™ˆ. Running them to and from school, activities, and days out. When I do get a moment to myself I enjoy running πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ, reading πŸ“š, anything crafting/DIY, sitting down with a cuppa and a puzzle book.

Hi, my name is kath πŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ. I am a residential support worker and have been with AFC since 2005. I started in Ty laura short breaks in swansea and moved to park house when it opened. I have alwasy worked in childcare working previously as a nursery nurse in a primary school 🏫.

I love working at park house with our team ❀️. Everyone brings something different to the job, creating and enjoyable and supportive environment. I work closely with 6 of our children and their familes as their key worker. This leads to a lovely relationship with our young people and their families.

In my spare time I love being out and about, often with my husband, children, and grandchildren. I am part of a rounders leagueπŸ₯Ž where I play for two teams which I love, and recently scored my first rounder πŸ…. I also belong to a local choir 🎼which is another passion if mine. At home I love spending time in my crafting room πŸ–Œβœ‚οΈ. This is where you see the full force of my squirrel 🐿️ brain come to life with the amount of projects I have on the go. Some of my current crafting intrests include sewing πŸͺ‘, air dry clay, resin jewellery, macrame πŸͺ’and card making.

I have been at Park House for 5 years now on various contracts, you can't keep me away! 😁 I thoroughly enjoy working at Park House, seeing all the children and especially taking them out and about in the community, seeing their happy faces!! I enjoy meeting new children that start Park House and I love seeing how the children and young people thrive independently at Park House!

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, I have recently started attending a book club which is new and exciting. I like going for walks especially up the mountains and going to concerts! 🎢

On the 15th May we had our CIW inspection at Park House. We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the top ratings of Excellent and Good in all areas of the inspection. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Excellent-
An β€œexcellent” rating means, with few exceptions, the service is outstanding. This could be for exceptional leadership, for care and support that puts people at the centre of everything they do, or for making a significant positive difference to people’s well-being.

Good-
A β€˜good’ rating means the service is consistently safe, caring, and meets people’s needs through reliable practices with positive results.

The four areas of inspection look at
-environment
-wellbeing
-leadership and Management
-care and support

I’m the team leader at Park House. I have worked at here for 13 years, time flies when your having fun.. and we do have so much fun!! No two days are the same, I love seeing all the children happy and enjoying themselves. My favourite thing about working here is getting to know all the wonderful people who pass through the doors, from the children and young people, parents, families, and the local community groups who have helped to raise money for new toys and our new sensory garden. The support we receive within our local community is so heartwarming.

Park House is like my second home. I feel as though I am coming home to family when I arrive each day.
Outside of work, I have 2 children Megan and Luke and a beautiful Granddaughter Rouge, I love spending time with them and going on days out.

I love going to the gym, you’ll catch me there most days. Although I do spend more time talking than training!! πŸ˜ƒ

Welcome to Friendly Face Friday!

Our friends up in North Wales Action for Children - Arosfa Disability Short Breaks started their own β€œMeet the Team Monday,” and we loved the idea so much that we decided to create our own version here at Park House.

Every Friday, we’ll be introducing a different member of staff so you can get to know the people supporting and caring for your children a little better β€” and learn more about the team behind Park House. 🏠❀️

To start us off, we have me, Maddi, who runs the page here at Park House!

🌷πŸ₯πŸŒΈβœˆοΈπŸŒΊπŸŒ·πŸ₯πŸŒΈβœˆοΈπŸŒΊπŸŒ·πŸ₯πŸŒΈβœˆοΈπŸŒΊπŸŒ·πŸ₯

Hi, I’m Maddi! I’m a Residential Support Worker here at Park House and I’ve been with Action for Children for around 18 months now. I’m the one with the funny accent, so sorry in advance if you can’t understand me sometimes!

One of my favourite things about the job is taking the young people out into the community and watching them grow and achieve things. I love that every day is different and that every young person brings their own personality and uniqueness to Park House.🏑

Outside of work, I love going to the gym, being outdoors, reading, and spending time with family and friends. I’m also a big fan of music festivals and travelling the world 🍸🎢✈️

Sadly, my time at Park House will be coming to an end at the beginning of next year, as I’m planning on moving back to New Zealand with my partner. πŸ‡³πŸ‡ΏπŸ₯
