Porlock Carnival 2026 – A Fantastic 40th Anniversary Celebration
Saturday 5th September 2026 – Porlock
What a fantastic day it was in Porlock on Saturday 5th September, as the village came together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Porlock Carnival.
The celebrations began at 4:30pm, with entertainment getting underway and people starting to gather in the village ahead of the main event. There was a brilliant atmosphere throughout the afternoon, with plenty going on to keep everyone entertained as the excitement built towards the procession.
Then, at 6:00pm, the highlight of the day arrived as the carnival procession made its way through Porlock.
And what a procession it was!
With 27 entries taking part, this year's carnival saw the highest number of entries we've had in many years. The streets were filled with colour, music, costumes, floats and plenty of laughter, while large crowds lined the route to watch, cheer and support all those taking part.
For a 40th anniversary, it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout of entries. From families and children to walking groups, local organisations, businesses and visitors, everyone brought something different to the procession.
🎪 40 Years of Porlock Carnival
This year's carnival was always going to be a particularly special one, celebrating 40 years of Porlock Carnival.
Four decades of carnivals is a huge achievement, and Saturday was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everyone who has played a part in keeping the tradition alive over the years.
It was especially encouraging to see so many younger people involved alongside those who have supported the carnival for many years. The 27 entries showed that there is still plenty of enthusiasm, creativity and community spirit behind Porlock Carnival.
The crowds who came out to watch were also a huge part of the day's success. Seeing the streets packed with people enjoying themselves and supporting the entrants created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the procession.

Whether you took home a prize or not, every entry helped make this year's carnival such a success. The amount of effort, imagination and time that goes into creating the floats, costumes and groups does not go unnoticed.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came along to watch and support the carnival. The fantastic crowds and wonderful atmosphere made the day incredibly special.
After 40 years, Porlock Carnival is still bringing the community together, creating memories and giving people something to look forward to every year.
