Porlock Weir Gig Club

Porlock Weir Gig Club Pilot gig-rowing club based at Porlock Weir, West Somerset. She arrived at Porlock Weir in January 2019. ​2020 Goose by Andrew Nancarrow was completed.

Porlock Weir Pilot Gig Club was founded in 2018 by Ben Allerton who recognised the growing need for the sport on Exmoor, in this fast growing traditional sport. After founding the club a training gig was kindly borrowed from Boscastle Pilot Gig Club (rival) to enable potential new members to get a taste of the sport and begin on water training. This created a large amount of interest and within 12

months the club had over 40 members, this number is still growing. ​ In December 2018 we were successful in bidding for the opportunity to purchase Circe which was gifted to the CPGA from Nankersey.

Massive thank you to .carnival for organising the most fantastic 40th Anniversary procession and to everyone who took part or lined the streets. We had an absolute blast. Special thanks must also go to our men in tights for being such good sports… Can’t wait for next year!
