Please display the new PHC permit at all times when kiting in Poole. Inspections commence in May 2014, including Sandbanks Beach. http://onlinephc.co.uk/

Please study the Code of Safe Practice / T&C. One of the most important rules, is to maintain a safety zone of at least 50m (2 kite line lengths) from road/cars, pavement/pedestrians. An accidental lofting or emergency release, given a safe dist

ance, is mostly harmless. The same near the road risks the lives of the kiter and the public. At the beach, please keep a constant lookout for anyone coming in to land their kite, and help others to launch/land beyond the 50m line from the harbour wall/road at all times. On advice from the Harbour Master, please can you stay well clear of the timber groyne replacement works that are currently active at East Cliff beach - and after Xmas will move to Boscombe beach, just east of Boscombe Pier.

The harbour master has asked us, for safety reasons, not to kite or wing close to the beach where the work is active.

Many thanks

Hi kitesurfers,

We've been contacted by the harbour master as a number of kitesurfers were riding along the beach at the bird sanctuary, at the east end of Brownsea Island on Sunday (see photos for location detail).

Although that flat water section is extremely tempting in a NW wind , kitesurfing in this area is not allowed, as you would know if you read the rules when you purchased your (mandatory) Poole harbour kite licence.

In addition, this activity caused some hysteria among the birds and caused all of the (100+) Spoonbills recently arrived from their migration to depart in a panic. Apparently these are a very rare and endangered species. The impact on the birds was noticed by a large number of people including the harbour master.

Please can we all stay in the designated kite surfing area and avoid any conflict with other users in the harbour. It's in our best interests if we want to keep kitesurfing in the harbour 😁
