We are expecting some lovely weather along the coast this Bank Holiday weekend.

If you find yourself unexpectedly in the water:

Float to Live:

- Tilt your head back with your ears submerged
- Relax and try to control your breathing
- Move your hands and legs gently to help you stay afloat
- Once your breathing is under control, call for help or swim to safety if you can

Cold water shock can affect anyone, no matter how strong a swimmer you are.

Another successful day collecting has raised a further £276.07, bringing our Tesco Extra Batley total for our two days in May to an impressive £622.27.
Thanks, as ever, to the ever-generous Tesco customers and Simone Rosly, Community Champion and Charity Coordinator, for her ongoing support to our charity. We really couldn't do what we do without your help.
Thanks to our RNLI fundraisers over the two days: Nick Hudson, Michael Moorhouse, Alex Irvine and Andrew Moorhouse.

Together we are saving lives at sea.

It takes a huge amount of knowledge and skill to operate and maintain our lifeboats safely and to be a lifeguard on one of the 250 patrolled beaches around the UK and Ireland. Training is therefore a vital part of our service. Crew and lifeguards, including some from Scarborough, have been learning important skills at our headquarters in Poole.

Congratulations Luke and Max. Well done.

Congratulations Luke and Max. Well done.

Congratulations to two of our crew, Luke Pentith and Max Burnett who passed their tier 2 assessments yesterday.

RNLI trainer and assessor Matt Blanchard took the pair to sea in the all weather, Shannon class lifeboat and put their training to the test.

The assessment is hands on and involves proving their competency in areas like anchoring and berthing, man overboard procedures and towing.

Luke and Max both passed and are now fully qualified volunteer crew at Whitby.

Station manager Barry Brown said: 'It is a great start to the year to have two of our volunteers pass their tier 2 assesments. It is our priority to make sure that our volunteers are trained to the highest standard in order to keep themselves and others safe at sea.'
