Poole Dolphins Sea Angling Club Fishing competitions Poole Dolphins Sea Angling Club was established in 1952. Today all Club Competitions are points based or measure and release.

The membership was originally limited to 50 and all the fishing was confined to Poole Harbour. As the Club grew Shore , Charter Boat and Private Boat sections were created to cover all aspects of Sea Fishing. We regard ourselves as a friendly Club and welcome new members.

Well here we are nearly half way through 2026 and fish are finally being caught especially gilt head and black bream.In June we start with three Monday evening charter trip’s ,on the 1st the 15th and the
28th.Details from Chris Mackenzie.There are two shore competitions,the first at Hive on Friday 5th and then Shell bay on Friday 26th both from 7pm till 11pm.On Friday 12th and Wednesday 17th we have Swanage pier comps,fishing from 6pm till 10.30pm details for both pier and shore competitions can be obtained from Mark Wright.Our private boat competitions start on Sunday 7th from9am till 4.30pm,then we have two Tuesday trips the first on Tuesday 9th and the second on Tuesday 23rd both fishing from 4pm till 8pm details from Bobi Francis.

Before I write the fixtures for May,I would like to thank everyone who supported me in my MARCH FOR MEN prostate cancer charity.My team were the top for the amount that they raised,so thank you everyone.
In May we have two shore competitions,the first on Saturday 9th at Milford shingle from 9am till 1.30 pm.The second is at Swanage beach on Saturday 30th from 7pm till 11pm.There are two Swanage pier events ,on Friday 15th and then on Wednesday 20th both fishing from 6pm till 10.30pm.Details for these events can be obtained from Mark Wright.
On Monday 4th and Monday 18th we have our charter boat competition,details and times from Chris Mackenzie.
There are three private boat competitions in May.On Tuesday 12th and Tuesday 26th fishing from 4pm till 8pm,and then on Sunday 17th from 9am till 4.30pm,details from Bobi Francis.

Here we are in April already,and the summer species like the Bream are already being caught!
In April we have two shore matches,the first at Swanage beach on the 3rd,and the second at Shell bay on the24th both fishing from 7pm till 11pm.We then have a Swanage pier competition on Wednesday 8th and another on Friday 17th fishing from 6pm till 10.30pm.The first of the years evening Charter boat will be fished on April 27th ,details from Chris Mackenzie.There are three private boat events,the first on Sunday 5th fishing 9am till 4pm,then two on Tuesdays.The first on the 14th and the second on the 21st fishing 4pm till 8 pm,details for the private boats can be found by contacting Bobi Francis,and likewise details for the pier and shore competitions can be found by contacting Mark Wright.

We have only three club fishing events for February,two piers and one private boat!On Sunday February 8th we have a private boat competition fishing from 9am till 4pm,details from Bobi Francis.We then have two Swanage pier matches,the first on Wednesday 11th and the second on Friday 20th both fishing from 6pm till 10.30pm information from Mark Wright.
In March we also have three club competitions.The first two are on Swanage pier fishing from 6pm till 10.30pm.The dates are Friday 6th and the second on Wednesday 11th.On Friday 20th there is a shore match at Shell Bay fishing 7pm till 11pm,details for all these matches can be obtained from Mark Wright

We have two shore matches in January ,the first is on Saturday 10th at west Bexington fishing from
9am till 1.30 pm,and the second is on Saturday 17th at midway path from 7pm till 11pm.There are two Swanage pier competitions,the first on Wednesday 14th and the second on Friday 30th both fishing from 6pm till10.30pm.

Here are the club competitions for November.We have two shore competitions,the first is at south beach Studland on the Friday 7th then Preston beach on the 28th,both from 7pm till 11pm.There are two Swanage pier events ,Friday 14th and Wednesday 19th both from 6pm till 10.30pm.Details for both the shore and pier competitions can be obtained from Mark Wright.The only private boat competition is on Sunday 16th fishing from 9am till 4.30pm.Details for this from Bobi Francis.

Here are the club competitions for December.There are two shore competitions,the first at Midway path on Friday 5th fishing 7pm till 11pm,and the second on Saturday 27th at Chesil cove from 9am till 3 pm.There is one swanage pier match on Wednesday 10th from 6pm till 10.30pm.The last private boat competition is on Sunday 7th,from 9am till 4.30pm.

Better late than never,here’s the fixtures for October.Once again welcome to our new members,and hope you enjoy fishing with one of the friendliest clubs around!
Before I start just a reminder that the DEAN CUP competition on Swanage pier for the 4th has been cancelled due to the weather we are expecting in our region,a new date will be forthcoming.
There are two club shore competitions this month.The first one is on Friday 10th at southbourne beach and the second on Swanage beach on Friday 24th both from 7pm till 11pm.Then on Sunday 12th we have a private boat competition fishing 9am till 4.30pm ,details from Bobi Francis.
The only Swanage pier competition is on Friday 17th from 6pm till10.30 pm,details concerning shore and pier competitions can obtained from Mark Wright.

Well here we are going into September,August went so fast just like a week,well I suppose that’s what happens when you get old!Before I put the fixtures on ,can we welcome our new members this month and hope they enjoy the friendship and advice if needed from our club.This just proves that fishing club membership is not dead,and anglers do appreciate the camaraderie and fishing alongside like minded people.
We start of September with three private boat competitions .We have two Tuesdays,one on the 2nd and one on the 16th fishing 4pm till 8pm.The other one is on Sunday 28th from 9am till 4.30pm,details from Bobi Francis.
We then have two Swanage pier events, one on Wednesday 10th and one on Friday 26th both 6pm till 10.30pm.There is only one Monday charter boat competition which is I believe is the last for the year on Monday 8th ,information from Chris Mackenzie.The shore competitions are both on Fridays,the first on the 5th at Evening hill and the second on the 19th at the Holly bush ,both from 7pm till 11pm.Contact Mark Wright for details concerning both the pier and shore competitions.
On Saturday 4th October we fish the annual Dean Cup pier competition on Swanage Pier.Would any members intending to fish please make Mark Wright aware teams can be agreed before the day,and we will know who will be attending,thank you.
