Another fantastic day out at National Trust Brownsea Island!

Our DBA members enjoyed another fun-filled day exploring the island this week, with plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and each other’s company.

A huge thank you to Greenslade Pleasure Boats Limited and the National Trust for helping to make the day so enjoyable and welcoming for our members. And of course to our wonderful volunteers for helping making the day possible.

Our book fundraiser at Tesco has been extended!

Great news, we’ve been given a little longer at Tesco Bournemouth Extra (Riverside Avenue, just near Bournemouth Hospital, BH7). So there’s still time to pick up a bargain and support Dorset Blind Association.

If you take a book, please donate what you can. Every donation goes towards supporting people living with sight loss across Dorset.

So next time you’re in Tesco, why not have a browse, choose your next read and help raise funds at the same time?

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us so far, and to Tesco for giving us extra time!

A fascinating event with author Jon Woolcott!

Last week, our Blandford Book Club enjoyed a successful Zoom meeting with local author Jon Woolcott, who gave us a fascinating talk about Dorset’s history and the chalk figures dotted around our county.

A huge thank you to Jon for giving up his time to join us and for such an interesting and enjoyable talk. We really appreciate it!

Volunteer Van Driver Needed: BCP & East Dorset areas

Could you spare a regular Monday or Tuesday morning to help Dorset Blind Association?

We’re looking for a volunteer van driver to help collect donations from local homes across BCP & East Dorset and bring them back to our charity shops.

The role involves:
🚐 Driving our charity van
📦 Loading and unloading bags, boxes and donated items
🏠 Carrying items in and out of properties, (including going up and down stairs)

A full UK driving licence and confidence driving a van are required. You’ll also need to be comfortable with the physical side of the role.

If you’re reliable, friendly and enjoy being out and about in the local community, we’d love to hear from you! You would be helping turn unwanted items into vital funds for local people living with sight loss

To find out more or register your interest, please contact Tom at [email protected] or call 07849 641149.

Please share with anyone who might be interested!
