Have you experienced cancer care while living with sight loss?

Our friends at Help & Care are working with partners to improve access to cancer care for people with sight loss and hearing loss.

They want to hear from people who have experience of cancer screening, GP referrals, treatment, appointments, or other cancer-related services. You don't need to have had cancer yourself to take part.

By sharing your experiences, you can help identify barriers and shape improvements to make cancer services more accessible for everyone.

Join a focus group and receive a £25 voucher as a thank you for your time.

For more information or to get involved, please see the poster or contact Help & Care directly:

Great to read more about this fantastic digital project with Bournemouth University!

Dorset Blind Association was proud to support this initiative in the Dorset workshops which helped blind and partially sighted people explore social media, digital content creation and accessible technology.

The project has shown how the right support can help people build confidence, learn new skills and connect with others in new ways.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, especially the participants who embraced the project with such enthusiasm.

Bournemouth University is helping visually impaired people build the digitals skills to help them feel part of the online world and improve their wellbeing.

Another great day out on MV Freedom!

Last week, some of our DBA members enjoyed another fantastic trip aboard the MV Freedom in Weymouth.

There were plenty of smiles, laughter and fresh sea air as everyone took in the beautiful Dorset coastline and enjoyed spending the day together.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the day possible, including our amazing volunteers and supporters who help us continue providing experiences like this for people living with sight loss across Dorset.

We did it - our biggest Motor Show yet!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that the 10th Annual Dorset Blind Association Motor Show 2026 at Lulworth Estate has raised over £42k for Dorset Blind Association!

This incredible total will make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people across Dorset, helping us continue to deliver vital services, support, and opportunities to our members throughout the county.

Despite a very mixed forecast in the lead-up, the public turned out in force and we welcomed over 8,000 visitors, alongside 300+ incredible vehicles on display. The atmosphere across the site was fantastic from start to finish.

A huge thank you goes to every single person who made the day possible, our sponsors, exhibitors, traders, performers, volunteers, and every visitor who came through the gates. This event simply doesn’t happen without you, and your support means more than we can ever fully express.

A special thank you as always to our headline sponsors Blue Sky Financial Planning Ltd and Daizun Investments, along with all of our partners and supporters who helped make this milestone year so successful.

Special thanks also to James Weld and the team at Lulworth Castle for their continued support and for once again hosting us so brilliantly at the most iconic of locations.

As we celebrate 10 years of the Motor Show, we’re already looking ahead to what comes next… and we can’t wait to build on this amazing success for 2027!

From all of us at Dorset Blind Association - thank you

If you came along and have any photos from the day, please do share them with us - we’d love to see them!
