Throughout this year, public awareness of the Safety Valve scheme, and pressure to end it, has increased. Govt have now confirmed there will be no more agreements. It’s a small step but an important one. Well done to everyone who joined the campaign - there’s still more to do, but it’s firmly on the radar. For BCP at least, this should mean no agreement.

This is really frustrating - this woman has twins with cerebral palsy who are reliant on big bulky walkers, but can’t get blue badges because they are under 3 (at this age it’s at a local authority’a discretion). She’s been working hard raising awareness and getting signatures for months, and now because of the general election she now has less than a week to get about 2,500 more signatures. I’d be really grateful if you could share and support her, I’m sure it would have gotten there in the remaining time.

BCP Council have announced plans to open a new autism specialist school in Bournemouth for 180 pupils age 3-19. This is excellent news and urgently needed. The information states that it will open in two years but there have been delays in opening specialist schools nationally. I’ll update with any info when I hear more.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council’s commitment to improve the education of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) has received a huge boost with news that major funding for a brand-new Free Special School has been secured.
