Zambia Orphans Aid UK - ZOA-UK Changing the future for children. Empowering through education. Supporting vulnerable communities through our partners. Learn how YOU can help.

Zambia is one of the most deprived and unequal countries and has been hugely affected by the social consequences of AIDS. The country has approximately 1.2 million orphans and other vulnerable children, in a population of just 20 million. Too many Zambian children cannot access or complete their education. We support children to access and remain in education, whenever possible. We also fund schoo

l feeding and development programmes. ZOA-UK reaches vulnerable children by working in partnership with grassroots community groups and schools. We also seed-fund these partners’ income generating activities to help them move away from reliance on foreign aid.

When families struggle to make ends meet, children are often pulled out of school to help earn an income. The cost is high: lost learning, fewer opportunities, and a future shaped by hardship rather than choice.

By removing barriers to education (such as school fees, uniforms, books, and meals) we can help families keep their children in school and invest in their future.

On World Day Against Child Labour, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

🌍 Happy Africa Day!

On 25th May 1963, African nations came together in Addis Ababa to sign the founding charter of the Organisation of African Unity, a landmark moment in the story of African unity, dignity and self-determination.

This year's theme, Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063, reminds us that access to clean water is not just a health issue. It is an education issue. A childhood issue. A future issue.

Children who spend hours collecting water cannot spend those hours in school. Communities without safe sanitation cannot keep children healthy enough to learn. Water and education are inseparable and both are at the heart of the work Zambia Orphans Aid does every day.

ZOA supports children in Zambia to access education and build brighter futures. This Africa Day lets celebrate the continent, its resilience, and the people working quietly and consistently to make sure every child gets the start they deserve.

If you'd like to be part of that, even a small donation makes a real difference.

Earlier this year, flash flooding overwhelmed sewage systems in Zambia, spreading contaminated water through communities. Partner schools were identified as high-risk for Cholera, with children and staff in danger.

Our team in Zambia identified urgent needs in partner schools, including handwashing stations, chlorine, and basic protective equipment.

When schools close due to poor hygiene conditions, the consequences go far beyond missed lessons; children face risks of hunger, abuse, and child marriage, and many fall behind in their education.

💧 Clean hands save lives.
📚 Open schools protect futures.

This World Hand Hygiene Day, please donate to ZOA to help us provide essential hygiene support to prevent the spread of cholera and keep children safe and learning.
