Life Works Volunteering and personal development opportunities for all to improve confidence & self-esteem and build better communities. Life Works is based in Poole.

Life Works was set up in 2013 by Parkstone United Reformed Church to give volunteering opportunities to ex-offenders. It is partnered with The Footprints Project. Participants are able to gain skills in painting, decorating, gardening and grounds work, up-cycling furniture as well as bicycle repair. Life Works receives funding from The People's Health Trust and has received funding for a van and

workshop from The People's Projects run by The Big Lottery and ITV. Life Works takes participants from the wider community who may benefit from belonging to a group and are looking to get some structure into their day. Life Works takes a ground up approach with peer mentoring. It offers the chance to give, and gain employability and life skills, as well as build confidence and self-esteem, giving a sense of purpose and meaning to lives. Participants are provided lunch and refreshments and their travel expenses are covered. Other benefits include discounted access to groups that include The Art Workshop with David, Tai Chi and Poole Waste Not Want Not, a Social Supermarket.

Our Story

It is a partnership project between The Footprints Project and Parkstone URC. Life Works has received funding from The People's Health Trust and has also received funding for a van and workshop from The People's Projects run by The Big Lottery and ITV.

Participants are able to gain skills in painting & decorating, gardening and grounds work, up-cycling furniture as well as running short introductory courses in plumbing and bricklaying. We take a ground up approach offering the chance to give, and gain employability and life skills, as well as build confidence and self-esteem. Life Works is based in Poole. Our participants are provided lunch and refreshments and travel expenses are covered.
