In the last 2 weeks, Hopkinstown has demonstrated its enormous capacity for community activism, in crowdfunding the support and money required to put in a bid for Capel Rhondda and save its future (thanks to the amazing leadership of Rhian Hopkins)
On Saturday, Citrus Arts will be hosting UK leading artist Ali Pretty of Kinetika. Ali, along with Citrus' James and Beth, will be taking us all on a walk on the Pontypridd circular, so that we can see our amazing town from new angles and heights! We'll be showcasing the 20 community pennants we created in February with Ali, which came out of discussions around memories of and the future of work.
If you're riding high on the wave of community feeling and want to further celebrate Hopkinstown and it's blooming amazingness, join us! We're meeting at Barry Sidings Cafe on Saturday 2 August at 11.30 and will depart on the walk at noon. The halfway point we estimate will be at 3pm and we'll be pausing at Hoffi Coffi in Trefforest for sustenance and music with Francesca Dimech. People can leave and join at any point on the walk as there are plenty of ways in and out- we'll keep instagram updated with our whereabouts. We think we'll be back at Barry Sidings for about 6pm.
Dogs and kids welcome (as long as they are ready for the walk!)- babies in slings and backpacks (prams would be very challenging). Strong footwear essential (no flip flops or sandals) and lots of water and sun cream.
We really hope to see you there!
