Hello Treforest 👋

🚮 This week we attended the Tidy Wales Awards 2026 in Cardiff. Treforest Litter Pickers made it to the final in the Cleaner Communities category, and we were honoured to represent our community. Unfortunately we missed out this time but don't worry we'll be back!!!

Congratulations to Joan and the team in Llantwit Major who won a very snazzy litter picking trolley! And huge respect to everyone at the awards who are doing incredible work across Wales!

🚮 Back in the real world we had an amazing morning taking 48 kids from Parc Lewis Primary School on a litter picking expedition down the Taff Trail.

I think it's safe to say they enjoyed it a LOT! They were all brilliant! We love visiting schools and we think the most valuable work we can do is helping the next generation take care of the environment. Thanks for having us 😁

🚮 We've also had great news this week that Tesco want to provide us with tea/coffee biscuits etc. for when we have our tea breaks, so that will save us some money! Thanks to Sharon for sorting that out!

Just a reminder that we will be tidying the park next to Maes Y Coed primary school next Sunday. Looking for volunteers - come along even if you only have 30 minutes to spare, the more hands the more rubbish we can collect. See you there!

Hello Treforest 👋

A quick update on Laura Street.

We put out a post a few weeks ago about the overgrowth and the path being unusable.

Well good news, today the path has been cleared!

After reading our post a representative of the landowners got in touch and assured us the overgrowth would be sorted and today it was!

Thanks to them for that and it shows that we can achieve a positive outcome if we work together for the community.

Hello Treforest 👋

The threat of rain didn't stop us this morning. We met at the fabulous Community Garden and wasted no time getting stuck in. We were on a mission.

We went right down the bottom passed the Tin Works and to the bridge by the rugby club. There was a bit of rubbish on the river bank, but overall it wasn't too bad.

Then we moved up Meadow Street and did the lanes behind Raymond Terrace and the bit behind Long Row by the weir, which is always pretty bad, but this time was ok. Our volunteers keep on top of this bit now on a regular basis.

The big job today though was the bulb planting!!!

We had our best team on the case and they planted hundreds of daffodil bulbs by the bus stop and on the bits of rough ground by the new Castle Inn bridge. Absolute heroes! We can't wait for the spring when we can see the results!!

A massive thank you as always to our ever growing gang of volunteers, who make this all happen. Today we were joined by USW students, as well as our regulars and others who came from as far away as Tonteg and Hawthorn!

And a very special thank you to the anonymous donor who supplied the bulbs 🌼

Don't forget, you are always welcome to come along and help to make Treforest an even better place to live!

Hello Treforest 👋

Another cracking week on the streets of Treforest. Loving the warm weather 🌞

🚮 We have our monthly litter pick on Sunday, meeting at Meadow Street Community Garden.

🚮 We are starting our daffodil planting this month. Spring will be a lot brighter in Treforest thanks to donations from residents and the town council.

🚮 Be a good neighbour and bring your food bin off the pavement.

Hello Treforest 👋

Wow 😲

Today we attended WelcomeFest 26 at the university to introduce ourselves and Treforest Litter Pickers to the new students arriving for the new term.

We had an absolute blast!

We met hundreds of students and staff and everyone we spoke to was super interested in hearing about our work as a community group and what our plans are for the future.

This is the first time we've ever done anything like this and we think it's going to really help us get more volunteers involved and also spread the word about keeping Treforest tidy!

Thanks so much to everyone who spoke to us today and we hope to see many of you on our clean up events soon.

Weather Update at 8.45am 27/9/26 .

There looks like there will be some rain about this morning.

We are still going ahead, so bring your jackets.

If it gets too bad we'll go home early but at least we can say we tried our best!
