Some stories perfectly capture why Purple Shoots exists.
A few years ago, Sian, a mum and carer from Llandeilo, had built a successful bath and body care business, travelling across Wales and selling at craft fairs. Then Covid arrived and, almost overnight, everything stopped.
Like so many small business owners, she faced an uncertain future. But what stood out when we met Sian wasn't the challenges she had faced but her determination, creativity and belief that she could build something again.
With a small loan and ongoing support from Purple Shoots, Sian got back on her feet and began growing her business once more.
Today, that business has expanded far beyond where it started. Alongside her original products, Sian now sells jewellery, furniture, gifts and even ice cream. Most importantly, she has created employment for seven people in her local community.
As Sian put so kindly in the report:
"Purple Shoots invest and support not only the business but also the person."
We're incredibly proud to see Sian's story featured in The Maple Review UK, alongside contributions from Karen Davies and Richard Kirtley.
Stories like Sian's remind us that talent is everywhere. Entrepreneurial spirit is everywhere. Given the opportunity, people can achieve remarkable things.
