The weather is looking mighty fine for a stroll to the Grotto and Folly on this fine bank holiday 25th May. We will be open 11 til 3. Come and say hello, enjoy the walk, the views and most of all the Grotto and Folly. Please be mindful of animals, dogs should be under control at all times. Please take any litter home with you. We dont have any facilities at the Folly.

💚Bank Holiday opening - Monday 25th May 💚

The Shell Grotto and the Folly will be open this Bank Holiday Monday 11am till 3pm.

Please be aware that the Folly is situated on a working farm with cows and lambs in the fields on the walk up to it. Please ensure dogs are on leads and you stick to the paths so all farm animals are kept safe.

To access the shell grotto you need to either walk down from the folly or walk up through the park and under the ski slope. There isn’t access to the grotto for vehicles.

Please be aware of the following

The Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act 2025, effective 18 March 2026 in England and Wales, strengthens laws against livestock worrying, enabling unlimited fines and police to seize dogs. It covers chasing, attacking, or causing distress to livestock, including camelids, on agricultural land and public paths.

The grotto and Folly will not be open on Bank Holiday Monday due to circumstances beyond our control.
We hope to open both sites on the next Bank Holiday 💚

Wow ! What an amazing few hours ! Thank you to all our visitors who came to the Grotto and Folly,after that trek up you deserve a sit on the sofa and Easter treats 💚

We do have queues at both sites with lots of visitors and a Red kite has been spotted flying above the Folly so cameras ready 💚

Dear Santa’s Visitors,

Oh dear! Due to very wet weather and a rather soggy Grotto, I’m afraid my visit this Sunday will have to be cancelled. Some of my elves checked the ground today and it’s going to be far too boggy to keep everyone safe and that’s the most important thing!

I hope you still have a truly magical Christmas and don’t worry, I’ll be sure to visit you on Christmas Eve!
