WATBike Servicing and repairs from our Kirkley workshop. Refurbished and new bikes for sale. Cycle transport for groups of all sizes.

We are a cycling charity based at Kirkley, near Ponteland, in the North East of England. We have a workshop which is open six days a week for servicing and repairs, as well as bike sales. We sell new bikes for kids and adults and we also have a big stock of refurbished bikes at reasonable prices. Our ethos is to get people on bikes - we run guided rides and excursions; and have a fleet of minibuses and trailers for cycle transport anywhere in the UK.

"When robins appear, loved ones are near" - isn't that the saying? We've been visited by a couple of robins this past week - they've come right into the workshop and flown around for a bit, before heading back out into the sun. We get plenty of insects in the building, but this is the first time we've consistently had birds coming to say hello ❤️

When you turn a page and see the WATBike van 😍😍

A couple of great articles in this month's Arrivee magazine about local legend Andy Berne of Tyneside Vagabonds. Andy puts in an incredible amount of work to devise routes and run Audax (long distance cycling) events across the country. If he needs a vehicle with plenty of carrying capacity, we're happy to lend him our van to make life easier.

If you'd like further information about Audax events, visit the web page https://www.audax.uk/

Northumbria University bike week over and out!

What a fantastic three days we've had - over 30 refurbished cycles sold and up to 15 bikes a day repaired. We love to encourage people to cycle to the city and to help keep their bikes in full working order - lots of smiles on both sides 🥰

Next bike week is at Newcastle University from 13th to 15th October, at The Boiler House. We'll be selling bikes - prices start at £50 - as well as putting our Dr Bike mechanics to good use 😉 Pop along and see us - this is OPEN TO ALL, thanks to funding from Cycling UK.

It was a sunny start to the first of 3 days at Northumbria University! 32 bikes were offloaded from the trailer and we sold 6 in the first 30 minutes, including 3 to a group of friends who are going to commute and do rides together.

We were also carrying out Dr Bike checks and minor repairs.

We're back at Ellison A Building on Wednesday 30th September and Thursday 1st October, from 10am to 3pm.

It's been a busy week for our Dr Bike mechanics, working in the sunshine at three NHS sites, providing free safety checks and minor repairs for anyone dropping in.

John was at Rake Lane on Tuesday - in a very small bike shed! Colin had lots more room at NSECH on Wednesday and Neil was outside the brand new facilities at Seaton Delaval today. Over 20 bikes were given some TLC, thanks to everyone who came along, and thanks to Cycling UK for the funding which made it possible.
