🐾 Introducing Ruby – the face of our new Sprocker Assist & Rescue car stickers! 🐾

Many of you will recognise Ruby. She was my own Sprocker Assist & Rescue dog and the reason I first became involved with the charity. Sadly, Ruby is no longer with us, but after coming into rescue she enjoyed three wonderful years filled with love, adventures, cuddles and happiness.

When it came to choosing a dog to represent our very first charity sticker, Ruby felt like the perfect choice. Her smile captures everything we want Sprocker Assist & Rescue to stand for – hope, second chances, friendship and the joy that rescue dogs bring to our lives.

And before anyone asks... I didn't actually choose her myself! To avoid any bias, I showed the photos to a panel of completely unsuspecting customers at work and asked them which dog they would be most likely to stop and look at on a car window. Ruby was the clear favourite.

Thank you to everyone who entered our Poster Dog Competition. We have loved seeing your amazing SAR alumni and hearing their stories. The competition has now closed and judging is underway.

Emma has created this stunning picture of Tommy for a winner bidder at our recent auction

Have been working for a while on this one that I did as part of Sprocker Assist and Rescue charity auction. The painting is A4 size but painted onto A3 canvas textured paper to allow for a nice mount for framing. Just to allow to dry now, a coat of varnish then will be off to it's new home.

Did anyone else notice a subtle change in their dog when they finally seemed to decide, "This is home"?

We often talk about the 3-3-3 rule, with many dogs beginning to settle after around three months. But in reality, it can take much longer than that.

It's not always a dramatic change. Sometimes it's hard to explain. One adopter recently told us:

*"She has always been a loving and cuddly dog, but something seems to have clicked in her head that she knows this is home now. She's become my little velcro dog and our bond has gone from good to great. Nothing is perfect, but there's so much more trust between us both."*

Perhaps it's the first time they truly relax. Maybe they stop worrying about where you are. Maybe they start seeking you out more, show more confidence, or simply seem happier in themselves.

Have you experienced that moment with a rescue dog when you felt they finally realised they were home for good?

We urgently need an experienced foster home for Daisy, a 4-year-old female.

She has never been properly socialised and can react to passing dogs, so ideally needs a dog-free home or a calm older dog.

✅ Can live with a cat
✅ Has been around children 12+
✅ No bite history
⚠️ Not vaccinated

We need a temporary foster home from 25 May
