⛏️ PLEASE NOTE NEW DATE ⛏️
Frickley Colliery was the heart of the community for many years ❤️🏘️ The community was built mainly around it and it was a massive part of the village and many families’ lives 👨👩👧👦🖤
It will always be a big part of our local village history 📖 and we at Frickley Athletic Community Foundation ⚽ have connected with Frickley / South Elmsall Brass Band 🎺🥁 to hopefully preserve the pit legacy through the formation of The Frickley Mining Museum within the football club and surrounding area 🏛️⛏️
Within this we would like to honour the legacy of the miners 👷♂️👷♀️, protect stories and history from fading away 📚, and ensure the pride of the miners in the community is always remembered ⭐
We would like to display photos 📸, old pit equipment ⚒️ and memorabilia so local people can enjoy it and understand the history, along with local schools 🏫❤️
We already have the pit wheel on site ⚙️ and with the old pit site only next door to us, we have linked up with Frickley Country Park Rangers 🌳 who hope to build a lasting mining memory trail 🚶♂️⛏️
To do this we need the help of former Frickley miners and families 🤝 and we are holding an initial meeting to gauge interest and ideas 💡 in the hope of forming a team who can meet regularly to bring all this together 🙌
We really hope the community embraces this ❤️ Details of the meeting can be found on the poster 📍 or drop us a message/email.
