Our preacher this year is:
The Right Reverend Philip North, CMP
Bishop of Blackburn
✨ This year we mark the 470th Anniversary of the death of Archbishop Robert Holgate, our founder and benefactor.
Although this is a Hospital Community event by invitation only, in line with health and safety guidance due to limited space, we warmly invite our wider community and Facebook friends to hold us in your prayers, 🙏 giving thanks for the legacy Hemsworth and the area of benefit has received.

Archbishop Holgate Hospital Prayer
O LORD, look down with Thy gracious favour upon this Hospital.
Visit it, we pray Thee, with Thy blessing.
May Thy presence abide with each Brother and Sister,
with Thy servant who ministers to them,
and with all connected with this place.
May it evermore be the abode of love, peace, and holiness.
May those who dwell here so live on earth
that they may at last inherit Thy eternal home in heaven,
for the sake of Thy dear Son,
our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
💠 “May it evermore be the abode of Love, Peace, and Holiness.”

✨ All Saints’ Day & All Souls’ Day Celebrations✨
Next week in our Chapel we mark two very special days in the Church’s calendar:
🙏 All Saints’ Day – Sunday 2nd November
Our Mass will be at 9:30am.
All Saints’ Day is a joyful celebration when we remember and give thanks for all the saints — those known and unknown — who have lived lives of deep faith and holiness. Many, such as St Peter, gave their lives for their faith and are honoured as martyrs.
Throughout the year, we commemorate individual saints on their feast days. But on this day, we gather as one community to honour all the saints together, asking for their prayers and giving thanks for their example of devotion to Christ.
✝️ All Souls’ Day – Monday 3rd November
We come together again for our Requiem Mass at 9:45am to remember and pray for all the faithful departed.
Here in our community we have a personal obligation to not only place the names of our loved ones on the sheet at the back of the Chapel so they can be remembered during the Mass, but also to be present and to pray.
Traditionally held on November 2nd, All Souls’ Day is a time to pray for those who have died. In God’s presence, we make our prayers in remembrance of their lives and that theirsouls wll rest in peace with God.
🕯️ These two days hold deep meaning in our Christian faith, reminding us of the communion we share with all God’s people — both living and departed.
All are warmly encouraged to attend and take part in these sacred celebrations.

Death of HRH The Duchess of Kent
Following the sad announcement of the death of Katharine, HRH The Duchess of Kent, the Union Flag at the Hospital has been lowered to half-mast.

The Hospital community will be remembering her, The Duke of Kent, and their family, together with all Members of the Royal Family, at Mass throughout the official period of mourning.

Statement from the Archbishop of York on the death of HRH The Duchess of Kent issued yesterday said:

"Today, we mourn the death of Katharine, HRH The Duchess of Kent, who was born here in Yorkshire and whose Royal Wedding was held at York Minster in the city whose freedom she held. Katharine was an advocate for children and young people's welfare throughout her life. She taught and encouraged generations of young musicians. Millions will remember her comfort and kindness exemplified in her embrace of Jana Novotna in the final at Wimbledon whose Patron she was for many years. In 1994 her own deep and profound faith led her from Anglicanism to Roman Catholicism a moment the then Archbishop of Canterbury described as a ‘personal decision of a devout Christian on a spiritual journey’. She was held in high esteem by all who met her and knew her. I pray for the repose of her soul, and that HRH The Duke of Kent, their children and all the Royal Family may know the consolation and comfort that comes from our common Christian faith. May she Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory."
