The Mavisbank Trust

The Mavisbank Trust Mavisbank House is a hidden gem, situated a few miles south of Edinburgh. http://www.mavisbank.org.uk

Mavisbank is tucked away between the Midlothian communities of Loanhead, Bonnyrigg, Lasswade and Polton. The House currently stands as a roofless ruin in a perilous state of repair and there is very limited public access to either the House or grounds. It is architecturally renowned as one of Scotland's earliest and finest examples of a Palladian style villa and is Listed Category A and a Schedule

d Ancient Monument, envisaged and built within a designed landscape. The policy grounds of about 140 acres (57 hectares) are also Scheduled as an Ancient Monument, have Conservation Area status and are included in the Inventory of Scotland's Gardens and Designed Landscapes. The Mavisbank Trust exists to work with the community to find a long term future for Mavisbank that respects its important built and natural heritage and allows people to enjoy and learn from it.
