Do you know a business that loves supporting its local community?

Please tag them in the comments. We’d love to connect with local businesses who care about supporting young people in Pocklington.

Young People Count is asking local businesses to consider supporting our work with young people aged 11–18.

We are incredibly grateful for the support we already receive from individuals, businesses, funders, volunteers, families, and the wider community. Every bit of support matters, and we do not take any of it for granted.

But the reality for a small local charity is that project funding does not always cover the things that keep the doors open.

Funding often pays for specific activities, sessions, or short-term projects. What is much harder to fund are the core costs, the everyday costs of running a safe youth space.

Without those core costs being covered, the projects cannot happen.

Young People Count is the local youth provision in Pocklington. We offer a safe, welcoming space for young people to go, trusted adults to talk to, positive activities, early support, and somewhere they can belong.

Supporting Young People Count is not just supporting a charity. It is supporting local young people, local families, and the future of our town.

There are many ways local businesses could help, including:

Holding a staff fundraising day, bake sale, dress-down day, raffle, or office challenge

Running a pub quiz, charity night, collection, themed event, or sponsored activity

Hosting a collection box on your counter

Choosing Young People Count as your charity of the year

Sponsoring a youth club session, cooking session, trip, workshop, or piece of equipment

Sponsoring core costs such as rent, utilities, insurance, staff time, or building costs

Donating raffle prizes, vouchers, or experiences

Providing work experience, workplace visits, careers talks, mock interviews, mentoring, or skills workshops for young people

Sharing our posts, displaying a poster, including us in your newsletter, or helping us reach more people locally

Making a one-off donation or setting up regular monthly support

Even small, regular support from local businesses can make a real difference. A few businesses giving monthly could help us plan ahead, cover essential costs, and keep consistent support in place for young people.

There may also be tax benefits for businesses that support charities.

If you own, run, work for, or know a local business that cares about Pocklington and its young people, we would love to hear from you.

And if a business comes to mind, please tag them in the comments or share this post with them.

To everyone who already supports us: thank you. Your support helps keep a vital local space open for young people who need somewhere to go, someone to talk to, and a community that believes they matter.

Local businesses are part of the fabric of this town. By supporting Young People Count, you are helping make sure Pocklington is not just a good place to shop, eat, work, and visit — but a good place to grow up.
