Welcome to LGBTQ+ History Month 2026. The theme for this year is Science and Innovation merged with some reflection on how these ideas impact on our daily lives.

The national team at LGBTQ+ History month have acknowledged that diverse teams are essential for the development of solutions which benefit everyone. Then, alongside celebrating LGBTQ+ people, it is important to highlight the harm that LGBTQ+ people have historically faced as a result of the ways in which science has been explored and misapplied in the past.

At Pride in Plymouth, we're planning some exciting innovations of our own this momth and we want to acknowledge and celebrate the innovations of our communities over the year with a series of blog posts looking back at our q***r past and then onwards to the future.

Please keep reading and taking part over the next four weeks . . .

We will be hosting our annual Transgender Day of Remembrance service at the University of Plymouth on Thursday 20th November. It will take place in the Jill Craigie Cinema in the Roland Levinsky Building.

Doors open at 6:30pm, with the service beginning at 7pm. We will be reading the list of names of every trans person that has died as a result of violence and transphobia in the last 12 months. We will also have words from a few invited speakers.
