Marine Biodiversity Research at PML

Marine Biodiversity Research at PML Novel research exploring the role of marine biodiversity in supporting ecosystem processes and function.

The objective of our research is to determine the role of marine biodiversity across levels of biological and ecological organisation, from the basic building blocks of life (DNA, RNA and Protein) to individuals, populations and communities, in supporting ecosystem function. Our research aims to develop novel approaches for measuring and describing biodiversity across a range of biological scales,

investigate the relationships between biodiversity and the provision of key biogeochemical processes, and thus develop the understanding necessary to predict the impact of biodiversity change on the structure and function of marine ecosystems
